About the university/ college
CHRIST (Deemed to be University) was founded based on the educational vision of St. Kuriakose Elias Chavara, a 19th-century South Indian educationalist and social reformer. It is administered by the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), the first Catholic indigenous congregation established in 1831. The multidisciplinary university offers Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral programmes across the humanities, social sciences, sciences, commerce, management, engineering, architecture, education, and law to over 30,000 students. The University operates from four campuses in Bangalore (Karnataka), Lavasa (Pune, Maharashtra), and Ghaziabad (Delhi NCR). In addition, the University has established Centres for Innovation & Entrepreneurship, External Relations, Service Learning, and other support initiatives.
About the conference
The School of Law, CHRIST (Deemed to be University), is hosting an International Symposium on “Changing Global Order in South Asia: Balancing Sovereignty, Security and Human Rights” in collaboration with The Indian Society Of International Law (ISIL) on January 15th and 16th, 2026.
The Symposium will bring together esteemed scholars, policymakers, diplomats, legal practitioners, and students to discuss and deliberate on the emerging responsibilities of states in the 21st century. The Symposium will focus on 5 central themes: Armed Conflicts and National Security, Human Rights, Immigration, Refugees and Statelessness, Climate Obligations, Cyber Warfare and Global Trade, Opportunities and Economy.
These themes reflect some of the most pressing issues that the nation-states around the globe are facing, from safeguarding countries and protecting vulnerable communities to addressing climate change, navigating digital threats, and adapting to changes in the global economy.
The symposium will host keynote addresses, panel discussions, and paper presentations, which will help in fostering meaningful dialogue, encouraging interdisciplinary debate, and developing practical policy recommendations.

Who can submit
Participants from across the globe are invited, particularly scholars, policy makers, legal practitioners, diplomats, human rights activists, academics, research scholars, students. The organizing committee seeks diverse participation from different countries and regions to ensure a multiplicity of viewpoints in discussions.
The symposium will be organized in a hybrid format, allowing delegates to participate either in person at the designated venue or virtually through an online platform. All keynote speeches, plenaries, and thematic sessions will be accessible to both onsite and remote participants, promoting broad international engagement and flexibility

The final paper shall be submitted by 15 January 2026, by sending an email to the following email: [email protected].

Submission Guidelines
- Abstract and Keywords: Each paper must include a short abstract (300-350 words) and relevant keywords
- Word Limit: 5,000 to 10,000 words
- Plagiarism & AI Check: The overall similarity index (including AI-generated content) must be less than 10%,
- with no single source exceeding 2%. Papers exceeding this limit will not be considered.
- Referencing: Footnotes must follow APA (7th Edition) format consistently. No endnotes required.
- Font: Times New Roman, Font Size: 12, Spacing: Double
- Spelling: UK spelling (except in quoted text, which should retain the original)
- UK spelling and hyphenation: As per the Concise Oxford Dictionary.
- Page Numbers: Bottom centre, numbered sequentially (1, 2, 3, etc.)
- Software: Manuscript to be prepared in Microsoft Word 2010 or above
