Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai, established under the Maharashtra National Law University Act, is one of India’s leading National Law Universities. CALSTAR Blog Writing Competition
In the present era of complex economic interactions and rapidly evolving markets, corporate, financial, and economic laws play a critical role in regulating business conduct, ensuring market integrity, and protecting stakeholder interests. Legal frameworks governing banking, competition, mergers and acquisitions, taxation, insolvency, securities, and white-collar offences have witnessed significant legislative, regulatory, and judicial developments in recent years. These changes necessitate continuous academic engagement and critical examination. In this context, the Blog Writing Competition is being organized with the objective of fostering informed legal discourse and encouraging analytical writing on contemporary issues within key domains of corporate and financial law. The competition seeks to provide a structured platform for participants to examine legal challenges, interpret evolving jurisprudence, and contribute original perspectives to ongoing policy and regulatory debates.

Training and Workshops
An important feature of the competition is the provision of structured training sessions on academic blog writing.
A foundational workshop will be conducted for all registered participants. It will cover:
- Fundamentals of writing a blog from scratch
- Blog structure

Selected top-performing participants will additionally be invited to an advanced workshop.
The advanced workshop will focus on:
- Identifying suitable topics
- Developing research questions

Submission Guidelines
The brochure lays down the following requirements for submissions:
Originality
The submission must constitute the original work of the author/authors.
Referencing
References should preferably be provided through hyperlinks embedded in relevant keywords and phrases within the body of the submission.
Footnotes or endnotes should be used only where a hyperlink reference is unavailable.
Where footnotes/endnotes are used, participants must follow the Oxford University Standard for Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA), 4th edition.
Authorship
Co-authorship of up to two authors is permitted.
Nature of Writing
The competition encourages submissions to be:
- Analytical
- Solution-oriented
- More than merely descriptive
Word Limit
The submission should preferably be between 1,200 and 2,000 words.
Similarity and AI
The similarity/plagiarism index must not exceed 15%, while AI-generated content must remain below 10%.
