About the Organisation
Saveetha School of Law, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences (SIMATS) was established in 2009 with the aim of providing quality legal education, research and professional training. The institution is recognised by the Bar Council of India (BCI), approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and accredited with NAAC Grade A++. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate and Ph.D. programmes in law.
Saveetha School of Law functions under SIMATS, an institution established by the Saveetha Medical and Educational Trust. SIMATS has developed educational institutions across disciplines including law, medicine, dentistry, engineering, nursing and allied health sciences.

About the Competition
Saveetha School of Law is organising a Case Comment Writing Competition as part of Law Fest 2026.
The competition is designed to encourage law students to engage critically with judicial decisions while developing their legal research, analytical and academic writing skills. Participants will be required to analyse the given legal problem and prepare a structured case commentary within the prescribed time.
The competition will be conducted offline on the campus of Saveetha School of Law on 15 September 2026.
Eligibility
The competition is open to students pursuing:

- Undergraduate law programmes; and
- Postgraduate law programmes.
Participants must carry their college identity card for verification at the venue.
Competition Guidelines
Participants must prepare their case commentary on-site at the Saveetha School of Law campus.
The important rules and guidelines are as follows:
- The problem for the competition will be released two days before the event.
- Participants may use their own curated research while preparing the case commentary.
- The prescribed word limit is 1,500 to 2,000 words.
- Participants will have 90 minutes to complete the case commentary.
- Both authorship and co-authorship are permitted.
- A participant kit will be provided by the organisers.
- Mobile phones, smart devices and unauthorised study materials are prohibited during the competition.
- The submission must be original.
- Any plagiarism, malpractice or use of unfair means may lead to immediate disqualification.
- Participants are expected to maintain discipline, professionalism and academic integrity throughout the event.
- The decision of the judges and organising committee will be final and binding.
Important announcements relating to the competition will be communicated through the official WhatsApp group, the link to which will be provided through the registration form.

The event will be conducted entirely in offline mode.
Prizes and Recognition
The following prizes and certificates will be awarded:
- Winner: INR 2,000 cash prize along with a Certificate of Merit.
- Next Two Outstanding Participants: Trophies along with Certificates of Merit.
- Participation Certificates: Certificates of Participation will be awarded to all eligible participants who successfully complete the competition.
