NLUJAA promotes and makes modern legal education and research facilities available to students and scholars drawn from across the country, including the North East, from different socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds.

About Centre for Environmental Law, Advocacy and Research

The Centre for Environmental Law, Advocacy and Research (CELAR), the first of its kind in North-East India, is devoted to strengthening and contributing to the jurisprudence on environmental law, under the auspices of the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam. CELAR endeavours to be a torchbearer of NLUJAA’s mission to translate legal knowledge and skills into an instrument that addresses various environmental concerns of the country and especially the North-Eastern region of India.

The blog aims to foster a community dedicated to promoting environmental awareness and sustainability. It strives to educate, inspire, and engage our readers in meaningful conversations about the pressing issues facing our planet today.

Authors may choose to write on specific aspects of the following broad themes:

Please note that these are only suggestions, and authors are not required to limit themselves as long as their topic falls within the scope outlined for the CELAR blog.

Formatting Guidelines

• The submissions must be in an MS Word document formatted using Times New Roman font size 12 and line spacing 1.5.
• The file name must be “Title_CELAR Blog”. The short title must capture the essence of the submission and not be longer than ten words.
• We encourage the use of hyperlinks as opposed to footnotes. However, if your article contains sources that cannot be linked, please use the Oxford Standard for the Citation of Legal Authorities (OSCOLA) (4th edition) style in the footnotes. The following formatting is to be followed: Font – Times New Roman, Size – 10, Single Spacing between all lines.
• Articles should be between 1200 and 1500 words long and include a short abstract of up to 50 to 100 words. The abstract should only be submitted through the submission form and not included in the main article. Longer articles may be considered for publication on a case-by-case basis with the permission of the editor.

Additional Information

• Not adhering to the provided guidelines may lead to a prolonged review period or necessitate the author’s submission being returned for required compliance adjustments. Adherence to all formatting guidelines is mandatory.
• Upon receipt of your article, our Editorial Board will conduct a thorough editorial review. Authors will be notified of the acceptance or rejection decision within 7 days, although response times may occasionally extend to 10-12 days.
• All submissions to the CELAR Blog undergo rigorous double-blind peer review. Publication decisions rest solely with our team. Relaxation of any rules regarding submissions is subject to the discretion of the Editorial Board.

Submission Process

• Co-authorship of up to (2) authors is allowed.
• Submissions are to be made exclusively by filling out the Google Form. Any submissions made through alternative channels will not be taken into consideration.
• Submitted works must be original creations of the contributor. Each submission undergoes plagiarism screening, and if any instance of plagiarism is detected, the article will be summarily rejected. Submissions should refrain from including offensive, abusive, derogatory, or potentially defamatory content.
