Work Profile/ Main Tasks
As required by the, I conducted research and find relevant case laws on a number of issues, I have researched various facts of procedural and substantive law including the Constitution of India, the Code of Criminal Procedure 1973, the Indian Penal Code 1860, and the Code of Civil Procedure 1908 among other facts of law.
My internship also includes visits to the Hon’ble High Court of Delhi and Subordinate Court and where I attended Court proceedings. I also participated in client interactions and conferences. The main task was to understand how pleading was done, reading the case files and giving my input on the same, observing the types of cases that come under the lower level courts, and observing how cross-examination is to be done.
Work Environment
The work environment was good as Sir was affable and he used to solve all my doubts and queries even though I asked him 10 times. He explains everything in brief and in a very simple manner. It was a pleasure to be his intern and want to do the internship again under his guidance as he was so a supportive and helpful person. The ambiance of the lower court is very different from the higher courts. There is too much going on everywhere but on the other side, everyone was very helpful to each other and dedicated to the work. Sir guide and teach us wholeheartedly so that we can actually learn things. He also took a weekly session in which he asked questions and guided us about the basics of law. He also made us visit High Court once and it was a wonderful experience.
Good Things
The best part of this internship was that I got to know many things in my 2nd year of BBA LLB only and practical aspects of law and also witness the hearings of the court.
Every law student needs to do one internship in the lower court. The experience and environment of the lower courts are very different from higher courts. In the lower court, you got the opportunity to learn how our judicial system works and what are the basic legal problems our people face. The basic learning which you got from a lower court internship will not be available in higher courts. So as per my experience interning in the lower court is as important as interning in a higher court.
Bad Things
In my opinion, nothing was bad during this internship.
Stipend (if any)
No stipend was provided.
