Work Profile/ Main Task

My main task as an intern involved:

  1. attending the court proceedings both in the Virtual courtroom and physical courtroom
  2. To understand how pleading was done.
  3. Reading the case files and giving my input on the same.
  4. Observing the types of cases that come under the lower-level court.
  5. Observing how cross-examination is to be done.
  6. Helping in drafting affidavits, lease deeds, sale deeds, and gift deeds.
  7. Learning how to find reported cases in criminal law books and others.
  8. Worked on section 125 of CrPC.
  9. Worked on section 11 of the Indian contract act.

Work Environment

The work environment was great and the hustle bustled. The ambiance of the lower court is very different from the higher court. There is too much going on everywhere but on the other side, everyone was very helpful to each other and dedicated to the work. Sir guide and teach us wholeheartedly so that we can actually learn things. He also took a weekly session in which he asked questions and guided us about the basics of law.

Good things

Every law student needs to do one internship in the lower court. The experience and environment of the lower courts are very different from higher courts. In the lower court, you got the opportunity to learn how our judicial system works and what are the basic legal problems our people face. The basic learning which you got from a lower court internship will not be available in higher courts. So as per my experience interning in the lower court is as important as interning in a higher court.

Bad things

I don’t find any bad things in this internship but because of covid situation courts remained closed the most of time.

Stipend (if any)

There is no stipend involved but you get to learn many things.
