About the Institution
The Department of Laws, Panjab University, originally established at Lahore in 1889, was re-established at Shimla in 1948, shifted to Jalandhar in 1950 and finally relocated to the University Campus at Chandigarh in 1959. Its Alumni include Judges of the Supreme Court and High Courts, Union Cabinet Ministers, State Chief Ministers, Cabinet Ministers, Ambassadors, Senior Bureaucrats, Police Officers and other legal luminaries.
About MAGLAW Law Journal
MAGLAW is an annual publication in existence since 2017. It operates as a peer-reviewed and refereed journal specifically designed for students. MAGLAW is dedicated to providing a platform for students to contribute to the discourse on contemporary legal issues. We invite you to submit your original, unpublished manuscripts for consideration. We believe this is an excellent opportunity to showcase your research and analytical skills to a wider academic audience.

About Call for Papers
The journal welcomes high-quality papers from students, for its VOLUME IV ISSUE 2 and provides them with an opportunity to showcase their research and scholarly work. Research Papers/Case Notes/Book Reviews are called biannually for publication.
Eligibility
Students enrolled in LL.B. (three-year and five-year law programmes), LL.M., and Ph.D. have the opportunity to submit their research papers, case comments, and book reviews. Students of published papers will be awarded an e-certificate of publication.
Theme
MAGLAW Volume IV ISSUE 2, is centred on the theme of “Elections in India: Institutions, Challenges, and Pathways to Reform.”
Sub-themes
The students may seek inspiration from the following sub-themes:
- Electoral Institutions and Constitutional Vision
- Electoral Systems and Representation
- Electoral Integrity and Transparency
- Technology and Elections
- Electoral Reforms and Future Directions

Submission Guidelines

Word Limit
The MAGLAW accepts submissions in the following categories:
- Research Papers: 3,000 – 6,000 words
- Case Notes: 2,500 – 3,000 words
- Book Reviews: 1,000-2,000 words
All word limits are exclusive of footnotes
The journal is flexible on the word count depending on the quality of the submission. Referencing and citation must be in conformity with the Indian Law Institute (ILI) footnoting pattern (https://www.ili.ac.in/cstyle.pdf). Submissions must necessarily contain an abstract of not more than 200 words and five keywords.
Co-Authorship
Co-authoring of papers among individuals of the same or different institutions is permissible up to a maximum of two authors per paper.
Formatting Guidelines
- The authors are strictly required to use British English only.
- The submission must be word-processed and in Times New Roman.
- The main text should be in font size 12 (spacing 1.5) and footnotes in font size 10 (spacing 1.0).
- A one-line gap must be maintained between all paragraphs and headings.
- All paragraphs must begin with a one-inch indent.
- All hyperlinks must be in black and must not be underlined.
- All tables, graphs, figures, charts, etc. must be numbered consecutively.
