RPNLU, Prayagraj Organized International Colloquium on “Legal Systems in Transition: Global Responses to the Digital Revolution”

Dr. Rajendra Prasad National Law University, Prayagraj organized an International Colloquium on the theme “Legal Systems in Transition: Global Responses to the Digital Revolution”.
The colloquium was structured into three technical sessions to encourage global participation and in-depth scholarly engagement. The First Technical Session was conducted in online mode and featured distinguished international experts, including Professor Robert Burrell, Faculty of Law, University of Oxford, London; Professor Shubha Ghosh, Syracuse University College of Law, New York, USA; Dr. Robert Russo, Peter A. Allard School of Law, University of British Columbia, Vancouver; and Dr. Nanxiang Sun, Institute of International Law, China. The speakers examined the growing relevance of artificial intelligence and emerging technologies within legal systems. They emphasized the need for adaptive regulatory frameworks, ethical governance, and institutional preparedness to address the complexities of digital transformation.
The Second Technical Session, along with the third technical session, was conducted in physical mode at the Academic Block of the University in which distinguished legal scholars Professor Bijay Prasad Mishra, Faculty of Law, Tribhuvan University, Nepal; Professor Atul Kumar Pandey, Professor of Cyber Law, National Law Institute University, Bhopal; and Professor Pradeep Kulsheshtra, Dean, Bennett School of Law, Greater Noida participated. The speakers engaged in substantive discussions on cyber law, digital governance, and the regulatory preparedness of institutions in the face of technological disruption. They underscored the evolving responsibilities of legal systems in safeguarding digital rights, ensuring accountability, and facilitating responsible innovation.
In the Third Technical Session distinguished speakers Dr. Gulshan Rai, Former Cyber Security Advisor to the Prime Minister’s Office, New Delhi; Dr. Brajesh Sharma, Assistant Professor of Law, PUSSG Regional Centre, Hoshiarpur; and Dr. Parikshit Sirohi, Assistant Professor of Law, University of Delhi shared their views on cyber security. The speakers reflected upon the transformative impact of the digital revolution on governance and legal structures, highlighting the increasing importance of cybersecurity law, data protection, and responsive policy frameworks capable of balancing innovation with public interest.
All three sessions witnessed active participation from faculty members, researchers, and students, followed by engaging question-and-answer interactions that enriched academic discourse. The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor, Senior Professor Dr. Usha Tandon, observed that such academic initiatives play a vital role in strengthening critical engagement with emerging technological realities and contribute significantly to preparing students to address contemporary legal challenges with intellectual depth and professional responsibility. The Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor felicitated the distinguished speakers in recognition of their valuable contributions and reiterated the University’s commitment to academic excellence and global engagement.
The colloquium was conceived as a significant academic initiative aimed at fostering meaningful dialogue on the evolving relationship between law, technology, and governance in an increasingly digitalized world. The event brought together eminent academicians, legal scholars, policymakers, and professionals from India and abroad to deliberate upon contemporary legal challenges emerging from rapid technological transformation and reaffirmed the University’s dedication to promoting forward-looking legal scholarship and preparing future legal professionals to effectively navigate the challenges of an evolving digital world.
