Center for Law, St. Mother Teresa College is keen to develop a robust and rewarding internship programme that will provide meaningful exposure to law students. Towards that aim, we are pleased to introduce our internship policy, under which we seek to accept interns on a rolling basis for the months of March and April.

About the Internship

Internship under SMT College undertakes research on issues concerning the justice system in India. Research interns work under the guidance of experienced legal professionals and support them in conducting legal research, analyzing case laws, statutes, and regulations, and drafting legal documents such as memos, briefs, and reports. Our research efforts lay significant emphasis on fieldwork and empirical analysis.

Eligibility

The internship is open to students enrolled in a recognized undergraduate or post-graduate programme in the law. Students of both Hindi and English mediums can apply.

Responsibilities

Candidates will be asked to undertake tasks that may involve assisting with research projects or initiatives in public outreach. While the organization shall attempt to account for the interests expressed by the interns, it reserves the right to allocate tasks as it deems fit as per its requirements. This internship program is designed to provide students with an opportunity to gain hands-on experience and develop skills in legal research, writing, and analysis.

Duration

Internships are full-time and part time will be for a period of minimum 4 weeks..

Candidates must indicate the exact dates in their application.

Interns shall be based out of their offices on the SMT campus in Gomti Nagar Lucknow.

Type

While applications for part-time interns are considered, there is a strong preference in favour of full-time interns.

Remuneration

On satisfactory completion of the internship, a certificate of internship shall be awarded. Interns will be paid a stipend of Rs 5000 on successful completion of work.

Terms and Conditions

1. All applicants are required to apply 10 days prior to the first of the proposed month of internship.
2. Interns for a specific month will be finalized and intimated 1 week before the commencement of the month. Only successful applicants will be contacted.
3. The Interns shall follow the rules and regulations which are in general applicable to employees of the department.
4. In the event of unsatisfactory performance, the concerned intern may be advised by the Department to discontinue the internship.
