About Centre for Research and Planning, Supreme Court of India
The Centre for Research & Planning (CRP), established in 2015, is the dedicated policy Centre of the Supreme Court. The Centre focuses on a number of transformational initiatives and programmes for judicial reforms to improve efficiency and sustainability of the justice delivery system, development of jurisprudence, and to improve the quality of data collection using modern technology. For achieving better results and optimum efficiency, CRP has a team of officers and professionals having expertise in legal research, planning, and judicial systems. It serves as a bridge between research and academia, legal and judicial education, and the judicial administration.
About the Internship
The Centre for Research and Planning, Supreme Court of India, is accepting applications for in-person, full-time internships.
Eligibility
- All applicants must be enrolled in a law degree program recognised by the Bar Council of India.
- All applicants must be either in the 4th or 5th year of a five-year law program or in the 3rd year of a three-year law program on the dates they seek to intern at the CRP.
- Candidates must be below the age of 28.
Duration
The minimum duration of an internship shall be 4 (four) weeks
Deadline
Applications must be submitted at least four weeks prior to the start of your intended internship month. If you do not receive an intimation within three weeks of your intended start date, please presume your application has not been successful.
Selection Criteria at the CRP
The CRP employs a comprehensive evaluation process to identify candidates who align with the Center’s research goals. Selection is based on a holistic review of the applicant’s motivation and intent, as well as demonstrated expertise through prior internship experience in litigation and policy frameworks. Furthermore, the CRP places significant weight on the intellectual caliber of the candidate, assessed through the quality of their writing samples. The CRP mirrors the Supreme Court’s commitment to excellence by assembling a cohort that spans broad regional and socioeconomic backgrounds, ensuring the group is informed by a truly representative array of legal and historical perspectives.

The application form will require applicants to submit:
- a copy of their curriculum vitae (not more than 2 pages);
- a statement of purpose (350-500 words) explaining why the applicant wishes to intern at the CRP and how this into their career goals; and
- a writing sample (1,500-3,000 words). The writing sample may be an extract of a longer written piece. The writing sample does not have to be from a published article but should showcase the applicant’s writing proficiency and ability to analyse a legal issue.
