Founded in alignment with the vision of Dr. Karsanbhai K. Patel in 2007, the Institute of Law at Nirma University (ILNU) aims to bring about a paradigm shift in legal education in India.

The Institute seeks to introduce new dimensions to legal education by incorporating international standards and fostering an environment that encourages innovation and holistic development. Guided by the principles of justice, excellence, and professionalism, ILNU provides quality legal education and has produced lawyers, leaders, and policymakers who have established a distinct position in their respective fields.

About the Centre

The Centre for Environmental Law at the Institute of Law, Nirma University, envisages a journey towards environmental sustainability and equity. Established on 17 August 2013, the Centre aims to create environmental sensitivity among students, society, and other stakeholders.

The Centre promotes and encourages research in environmental law and policy, seeks to bridge the gap between law, policy, and their implementation, and works towards achieving social justice by promoting the protection of the right to a healthy environment. It also emphasises creating awareness about the fundamental duty to protect the environment.

About the Call for Blogs

The initiative seeks to foster critical, accessible, and solution-oriented discourse on contemporary issues in environmental and energy law.

The call invites submissions addressing issues ranging from ozone layer protection and climate litigation to renewable energy transition and sustainable development, with the objective of contributing to a wider understanding of environmental and energy law in contemporary times.

Eligibility

The Call for Blogs is open to:

  • Students
  • Academicians
  • Researchers
  • Professionals with an interest in environmental law and policy

Co-authorship is permitted, with a maximum of two authors per blog.

Contemporary Discourses in Environmental and Energy Law

Suggested Sub-Themes

  • Ozone Depletion and Atmospheric Protection Law
  • Renewable Energy and the Just Energy Transition
  • Climate Change, Carbon Markets, and Climate Litigation
  • Air, Water, and Plastic Pollution Regulation
  • Environmental Enforcement and Judicial Trends
  • Green Finance and Sustainable Development

Note: The above sub-themes are suggestive in nature. Submissions need not be strictly limited to these themes.

Selected blogs will be published on the official website of the Centre for Environmental Law, Institute of Law, Nirma University.

Word Limit

The blog must be between 1,000 and 1,500 words, excluding footnotes.

Submission Fee

There is no submission fee.

Formatting Guidelines

  • The identity of the author(s), including name, institutional affiliation, professional details, or any other identifying information, must not be disclosed anywhere in the manuscript or its document properties.
  • Any violation of the anonymity requirement may result in disqualification during the review process.
  • Main manuscript:
    • Font: Times New Roman
    • Font Size: 12
    • Line Spacing: 1.5
    • Alignment: Justified
  • Headings and sub-headings must follow a consistent formatting style.

Footnote Guidelines

Footnotes must follow the 20th edition of the Bluebook and adhere to the following formatting requirements:

  • Citation hyperlinks should be used wherever available; otherwise, Bluebook 20th edition citations should be followed.
  • Font: Times New Roman
  • Font Size: 10
  • Line Spacing: 1.0
  • Alignment: Justified

Plagiarism and Originality

  • Authors must strictly comply with the UGC plagiarism policy applicable to academic submissions.
  • Submissions containing more than 15% plagiarism will be rejected.
  • Submissions must be original and must not be under consideration by any other journal or publication.
  • Articles involving plagiarism or copyright violations are liable to be rejected immediately.

Review Process and Editorial Discretion

The Editorial Board reserves the right to suggest edits, including the addition or removal of content, at its discretion.

Authors are expected to incorporate the suggested changes within the specified timeframe.

Blogs are accepted on a rolling basis.
