About Amity Law School, Noida

The Amity Law School, Noida is an institution established by an educational society RBEF (Ritnand Balved Education Foundation) with the object of providing high quality education in the legal domain. The Founder Trustee, an NRI and an industrialist and the President of RBEF, Dr. Ashok K Chauhan is a renowned philanthropist who has dedicated his life to the service of the nation through education. Teaching at Amity Law School started with effect from 3rd November 2004.

About the Faculty Development Programme

The Indian Constitution was envisaged by the Constituent Assembly as an instrument of social engineering aiming to inculcate the values of equality, liberty, and fraternity in the political, legal and social structure of the country. These values are found embedded in fundamental rights, functions of democratic institution, relationship between state and individuals. In the words of Granville Austin, “it is a social document”.

Indian Constitution has survived the test of time by adapting to the growing social and political complexities. The doctrine of Basic Structure propounded by the Supreme Court allowed the Constitution to absorb the majoritarian shocks while preserving the essence of the Constitution which is not amenable to legislative will.

21st Century has seen a rapid change in the political, legal, social, and economic structure of the society. This growth has challenged Constitutional understanding of fundamental rights, duties, role of legal institutions.

Whether we take into consideration the changing norms of gender rights, interface of customary law and legal rights, duties of the state in elimination of poverty and securing financial justice and the growing challenges of the digital era etc, the constitution has played an important role.

These changes are continuously pushing towards evolving Constitutional jurisprudence and democratic institutions, especially in the context of various transformative judgments pronounced by Indian Judiciary.

This FDP aims to explore and tap this very relevant area of Constitutional importance. To understand and explore the foundations, evolution, dimensions, and challenges to Indian Constitution in -transforming the society.

It is designed to bring academicians and researchers from various disciplines around the globe to a common platform for exchanging and sharing the latest development and upcoming challenges to Constitutionalism.

The participants will not only gain extensive knowledge and perspectives in this field but will also be successful in grappling with the various nuances of this concept.
