The Centre for Labour Law and Research (CLLR), established at National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi, is dedicated to promoting academic research, policy engagement, and informed discourse in the field of labour and employment law. The Centre seeks to examine contemporary developments in labour regulation, industrial relations, workers’ rights, social security, and the evolving world of work through interdisciplinary and research-oriented initiatives.
By facilitating scholarly discussions, publications, seminars, and collaborations with academicians, practitioners, policymakers, and industry stakeholders, the Centre aims to contribute to the development of labour jurisprudence and strengthen understanding of legal and policy challenges affecting workers and employers alike.
About the CLLR Blog
The Blog of the Centre for Labour Law and Research (CLLR), NUSRL, serves as a platform for fostering academic discourse, policy engagement, and critical analysis of contemporary issues relating to labour and employment law. The Blog encourages contributions that examine legal, social, economic, and regulatory dimensions of labour governance while remaining accessible, analytical, and research-driven.
Situated in Jharkhand a region characterised by immense mineral wealth alongside complex socio-economic realities the CLLR is acutely aware of the localized challenges that define the regional labour landscape. Jharkhand is one of India’s largest source states for interstate migrant workers, with millions leaving their homes due to distress migration, often facing vulnerability to exploitation, bonded labour, and unsafe working conditions. The state’s large indigenous and tribal workforce, the heavy reliance on the unorganised sector, and the unique occupational hazards associated with its extensive coal and mineral mining industries present pressing legal and human rights questions. Therefore, the Blog particularly welcomes submissions that explore these regional complexities, critically analysing how national labour laws intersect with grassroots realities in Jharkhand and similar geographies.
The objective of the Blog is to bridge the gap between academic scholarship, policymaking, industry practices, and workers’ rights by disseminating high-quality and impactful research.
