The West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS/NUJS), Kolkata, is one of India’s premier national law universities and a leading centre for legal education, research, and public policy discourse. Established in 1999, the University is recognised for its academic rigour, interdisciplinary scholarship, and strong emphasis on legal research, advocacy, and social engagement. Over the years, NUJS has cultivated a vibrant intellectual environment that encourages critical inquiry into contemporary legal and constitutional issues.

About the Society

The Society for Dignity Law and DEI Policy (SDLDP), WBNUJS is a student-led academic and policy society dedicated to fostering meaningful engagement with issues of dignity, diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice through legal and interdisciplinary lenses. The Society seeks to facilitate informed discourse on emerging developments in areas such as dignity law, disability rights, gender justice, LGBTQIA+ rights, caste and social justice, women and child rights, and religion and constitutional rights. Through research initiatives, publications, discussions, and policy-oriented engagement, SDLDP aims to create an inclusive platform for critical reflection on evolving socio-legal concerns.

Submissions for the Newsletter

The Society for Dignity Law and DEI Policy (SDLDP), WBNUJS is pleased to invite submissions for the inaugural edition of its Triannual Newsletter (Volume I, Issue I). The Newsletter seeks to foster critical engagement with contemporary legal, social, and policy developments in the broader domain of dignity, diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice.

The Newsletter aims to provide a platform for meaningful dialogue on evolving discourses surrounding rights, equality, accessibility, representation, and constitutional values, both within India and globally. Through this initiative, SDLDP seeks to encourage interdisciplinary engagement with emerging socio-legal concerns and facilitate informed discussions among students, researchers, and practitioners.

The Newsletter will feature discussions on significant judicial pronouncements, legislative and policy developments, institutional practices, scholarly debates, and emerging socio-legal questions within the broad framework of dignity and inclusion.. 

Categories of Submission

SDLDP invites submissions under the following categories:

  • Short Articles (1100–1500 words)
  • Blogs (600–1000 words)
  • Book Reviews (800–1200 words)
  • Case Notes (800–1200 words)
  • Major Legal and Policy Developments (600–1000 words)

Suggested Themes

Submissions may engage with, but are not limited to, the following areas:

  • Dignity Law
  • Disability Law
  • Gender Laws
  • LGBTQIA+ Rights
  • Women & Child Rights
  • Caste & Social Justice
  • Religion & Constitutional Rights

Submission Guidelines

  • Submissions must be original, unpublished, and well-researched.
  • Co-authorship of up to two (2) authors is permitted.
  • All submissions will undergo plagiarism and AI checks.
  • The prescribed citation format is the Harvard Bluebook, 22nd Edition.

Submission Procedure

Authors are requested to submit their entries to [email protected] with the subject line in the following format: <Title of the Article _ Author’s Name>

Deadline

The deadline for submissions is 5th July 2026 (Sunday), 11:59 PM (IST). 

For the inaugural issue, we would be dealing with contemporary issues from April to July, 2026. Submissions would be on a rolling basis, post expiry of deadline for the upcoming editions.
