About the Job

Ernst & Young is hiring an Associate Analyst for its Tax – Indirect Tax team in New Delhi. The role involves handling indirect taxation matters, including Customs, GST, Global Trade Practice, compliance, audits, litigation, and advisory assignments.

Associate Analyst – Tax (Indirect Tax)

Eligibility

Candidates applying for the role should have:

  • Qualification as:
    • Chartered Accountant, or
    • Graduate in Law/LL.B., or
    • Any other Diploma with post-qualification and/or articleship experience
  • 2 years of post-qualification experience in indirect tax
  • Knowledge of:
    • Goods & Services Tax (GST)
    • Customs Law
    • Foreign Trade Policy
  • Good understanding of indirect tax laws, including Customs and GST
  • Proficiency in MS Excel, including formulas and computations
  • Experience in:
    • Applying indirect tax laws in practical scenarios
    • Managing assessments, audits, and litigations for clients
    • Appearing before tax authorities
    • Using technology tools such as ERP systems and data analytics for indirect tax matters
    • Client representation and relationship management

Preference will be given to candidates with reasonable knowledge of other tax legislations, accounting, and process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting clients in Customs and GST implementation projects
  • Conducting Customs and GST impact analysis
  • Managing indirect tax compliances
  • Identifying transition and compliance issues
  • Analysing and interpreting provisions under:
    • Central Excise Act
    • Customs Act
    • Cenvat Credit Rules
    • Service Tax laws
    • VAT laws
  • Handling matters relating to:
    • Classification and valuation of goods
    • Excise Rules
    • Modvat/Cenvat Credit Rules
    • Indirect tax compliances
  • Coordinating with government departments for approvals and registrations
  • Assisting clients in indirect tax litigation and assessments
  • Building client relationships and identifying business opportunities
  • Coordinating with managers and senior executives for planning and execution of assignments
  • Delivering high-quality client services and work products
