The ICFAI Law School

The ICFAI Law School, IFHE, Hyderabad, is a promising destination for students aspiring to pursue a career in law. It is an integral part of the ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education, a deemed-to-be University, and its programs are recognized by the Bar Council of India. The school offers five-year integrated BBA. LL.B. (Hons.), B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), B.A.J. LL.B. (Hons.) program, an LL.M. program in ADR, Corporate and Commercial Laws, Criminal Law, and Tax Laws, a Ph.D. program (full-time and part-time), and ten certificate courses in various contemporary legal subjects.

The Center For Excellence In Criminal Law

The Center for Excellence in Criminal Law was established in January 2020. It serves as a platform to raise awareness about critical and often overlooked issues within crime and criminal law. The Center aims to engage all stakeholders, including professionals, academics, students, and members of the community, in extensive research and related activities that contribute to addressing various challenges within the criminal justice system. It seeks to provide a valuable forum for discussing modern approaches to criminal law and allied branches.

The overarching philosophy of the Center is to promote a humanitarian approach where crime prevention is the ultimate objective, and offenders are treated with wisdom and understanding. The Center strives to extend this philosophy to both individuals and institutions, recognizing that their active involvement and insights are crucial for improving the effectiveness of crime control mechanisms within our society.

About The Conference

The criminal justice system opines punishment as a primary response to the criminality. Punishing the criminals is a paramount duty of all civilized Nations. Incapacitation and incarceration were the preferred methods of punishment. So, prison has been a form of punishment and the history reveals the evolution of the types of prisons across the globe. It is evident from the historical literature that the prison environment is depicted as deplorable and inhumane. The prison environment varies widely around the world and the wide range of prison conditions reflects how each country treats its criminals.

With the evolution of prison reforms and prisoners’ rights across the globe, the punitive reaction approach paved toward humanizing punishment leading to the genesis of correctional ideology. Corrections birthed from penology, but hold a philosophy separate from mere penalizing. The rationale behind corrections was to reform and restore. Corrections are not limited to prisons but also extend to community corrections through probation, parole etc. Correctional philosophy underlies such a mode of addressing criminal behavior.

In India, the reformation wave spread in the late twentieth century and as of now we have our places of incarceration being called places offering corrections. The ICFAI Law School is organizing the Conference in collaboration with the Academy of Prisons and Correctional Administration (APCA), Vellore on 1st, 2nd and 3rd of April 2026.

About Call For Papers

The Conference invites papers in correctional reforms in the form of full length research and scholarly papers documenting original and substantial research work. Contributions are invited on philosophical, theoretical, practical and empirical investigations with emphasis on correctional reforms.

The Conference encourages submission of papers focusing on the emerging areas of correctional reforms. Papers may be in any of the substantive areas of corrections, including but not limited to the themes of the conference. The themes of the conference are only indicative. We invite and encourage papers from other allied areas of corrections.

The list above is only suggestive but not exhaustive. The participants may submit their research papers within the broad areas of the theme of the conference.

Submission Guidelines

The abstract should be 300 words with a minimum of five (5) keywords and must be accompanied by a cover page with the author’s/co-author’s details. The abstract must be submitted via Google Forms.

The full papers should preferably be formatted in the APA Style for formatting and referencing. The full paper should be written in less than 8000 words, including tables, exhibits, references and appendices.

The manuscript should begin with a separate title page containing: the Paper Title, Author(s)’ affiliation and email ID, Abstract (Max 300 words), and Five Keywords. The rest of the manuscript should not contain any author identifying information. Please submit your abstract via link and upon acceptance, full papers to: [email protected]

Plagiarism Policy: The conference has a strict anti-plagiarism policy, permitting up to 10% similarity, with a maximum of 5% AI-generated content. Papers that exceed this limit will be disqualified. 

Conference Proceedings and Publication: The organizers will publish the full papers shortlisted for presentation in a Conference proceeding/book with ISB Number. Selected full papers will be published in ICFAI Law Review – Special Edition.

• Students and Research Scholars: Rs. 2000/- (with accommodation/per person) Rs. 1000/- (without accommodation)
• Separate Registration for both Author and Co-Author. 
• Last Date for Registration 25th March 2026.

Accommodation: The Participants may avail accommodations at the Guest House / Hostels which can be reserved on first come first serve basis on the requisite payment while registering for the conference.

Non-Liability Clause: The organizers are not liable for the consequences of any unpredictable event that might disrupt the schedule of the conference.
