About Client Counselling Committee

The Client Counselling Committee (CCC), established in 2024, is dedicated to enhancing practical legal skills among law students. After successfully organising the 1st IILM Client Counselling Competition, 2025, with participation from 30+ teams nationwide, the Committee now presents the 2nd IILM Client Counselling Competition, 2026, to further promote professional excellence in client advocacy and advisory skills.

Details of the Event

The 2nd IILM Client Counselling Competition, 2026 aims at bridging the gap between theoretical legal education and real-world legal practice.

The competition simulates real life lawyer-client consultations where participants demonstrate their ability to:

  • Establish rapport with clients
  • Identify legal and factual issues
  • Apply relevant laws
  • Develop strategic solutions
  • Communicate legal advice effectively

Mode of Competition: Hybrid

  • Preliminary Round – Online (24 March 2026)
  • Semi-Final Round – Offline (10 April 2026)
  • Final Round & Valedictory – Offline (11 April 2026)

Themes for Competition

The problem propositions will be based on areas such as:

AI, IPR, Contract Law & Arbitration, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Family Law, Human Rights Law, Cyber Law, Torts & Consumer Protection, Public Health Law and Corporate Law.

The subject matter or area of the client counselling problem will be disclosed 24 hours in advance of the competition through a concept note

Eligibility

  • Open to students enrolled in 3-year or 5-year LL.B. programmes from any recognised University/College/Department.
  • Each team must consist of two participants.
  • Maximum two teams per institution (subject to a first-come, first-served basis).
  • A total of 30 teams will be selected (extendable at the organising committee’s discretion).

Mode

  • Preliminary Round: Online
  • Semi-Final & Final Rounds: IILM University, Gurugram

Registration Procedure

  1. Teams must fill out the official Google Registration Form.
  2. Registration will be confirmed only upon payment of the prescribed fee.
  3. Confirmation email will be sent to registered teams.
  4. A Team Code will be assigned after successful registration.

Fee Details

Registration Fee (up to preliminary round): ₹500 per team

An additional amount is required to paid by the teams qualifying for the semi-final & final rounds:

  1. Without accommodation – ₹1000
  2. With accommodation – ₹2000

  • Best Counsel (Preliminary Rounds) – Certificate of Merit, Cash Prize of ₹4,000, Internship Opportunity, Medaland Bare Act.
  • Additional perks includes – One month access to the SCC Online Web Edition to all participants. Winners post the competition will get one-year complimentary subscriptions to SCC Online Web Edition.

Deadlines

  • All registrations must be completed on or before 21 March 2026.
  • Teams qualifying for offline rounds must complete additional payment formalities within the stipulated time communicated via email.
