Dr.Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law University, was established by an Act of Govt. of Uttar Pradesh in 2005, U.P. Act No.28 of 2005 and came into being on 4th of January 2006 to meet up the new challenges in legal field and to strengthen the vision that was given by the establishment of first National Law School of the country. Originally incorporated as ‘Dr.Ram Manohar Lohiya National Law Institute, Uttar Pradesh’ word ‘Institute’ was substituted by the ‘University’ later, vide an amendment in the Act in November 2006. This was done to give a comprehensive national character to the Institute on lines with the other premier National Law Universities of the Country.
About The RFMLR Blog
The Editorial Board of RFMLR operates the RFMLR Blog at www.rfmlr.com. The RFMLR Blog aims to provide a platform for expression of novel ideas and analysis of contemporary issues in business and commercial laws. In addition to the RFMLR Call for Blogs (Open Theme), the Editorial Board periodically releases theme-specific Call for Blogs to advance the discourse on select areas of commercial laws. Previously, the Editorial Board has invited blogs on Digital Commerce and Fintech Law, Corporate Governance, Competition Law, Telecom Law, and Aviation Law, under the theme-specific blog series.
About the event
With an aim to infuse the culture of academic writing in the early stages of law school, RFMLR organised the RGNUL Freshers’ Article Writing Competition for the Batch of 2025. We were elated to see the zealous participation from the first-year students of RGNUL in the first edition of the Competition.
Theme
The theme of the competition was “Online Gaming and Law: At Loggerheads over Technology?”
The Editorial Board reviewed all the entries and selected the top 5 which are as follows:
1. Regulating the Trend of Microtransactions and Lootboxes- Kanav Aggarwal and Aditya Srivastava (winning entry)
2. Legality of Online Gambling: The Judicial Approach to an Unanswered Question- Namah Bose
3. Fantasy Sports: A Face-off with Indian Laws- Utkarsh Goyal
4. A Critical Analysis of Legality and Legitimacy of Online Gambling with a Special Reference to Fantasy Sports in India- Raghav Sehgal
5. The Awaited Classification of Online Gaming and Fantasy Sports in India- Apurva Srivastava
The winning entry will be published on the RFMLR Blog. The top 3 entries will be awarded Certificates of Merit and the remaining two of the top 5 will be awarded Certificates of Appreciation.
