The National Essay Writing Competition 2025 aims to provide a platform for law enthusiasts, researchers, and writers to critically analyze and contribute to legal discourse on the theme:2025 Critical Analysis of the New Criminal Codes of India.
This competition seeks essays that reflect original thought, research, and a nuanced understanding of legal principles.
Eligibility
The competition is open to:
- Undergraduate and postgraduate law students.
- Research scholars from recognized institutions in India.
- Professionals from the field of law are also welcome.
Theme
2025 Critical Analysis of the New Criminal Codes of India
Participants may choose one of the following sub-themes for their essay:
- Rights of Tribal Victims
- Creation of Special Courts for Offenses Against Tribal Communities
- Impact of Amendments on Organized Crime and Terrorism
- Corporate Culpability and Legal Reforms
- Green Collar Crimes: Environmental Offenses
- Religious Crimes and Legal Responses
Submission Categories
- Individual authorship
- Co-authorship (maximum of 2 authors per essay)
Prizes
- Winner: ₹10,000
- 1st Runner-Up: ₹5,000
- 2nd Runner-Up: ₹3,000
Certificates will be provided to the top 10 participants.
Formatting Guidelines
- Word Limit: 2,000–3,000 words (excluding footnotes).
- Font: Times New Roman
- Font Size: 12 pt (main text), 10 pt (footnotes)
- Line Spacing: 1.5 (main text), single spacing (footnotes)
- Margins: 1 inch on all sides
- Citation Style: Bluebook 21st Edition or OSCOLA
Selection Guidelines
- Originality and innovation in the essay topic.
- Depth of research and analysis.
- Adherence to the theme and sub-themes.
- Logical flow, coherence, and grammar
Submission Guidelines
- Essays must be original and unpublished.
- Submit essays in PDF format through the designated submission portal.
- Plagiarism beyond 10% will lead to disqualification.
- File naming format: “Name_Theme_Title.pdf”

- Submission Deadline: February 15, 2025
- Winners Announcement: Second week of March 2025
