About the Job

Standard Chartered is hiring a Legal Associate (Group Commercial) to support the Head, Legal COE, GBS India as part of the Bank’s Group Commercial Legal Centre of Excellence based in Bengaluru. The role focuses on procurement and commercial contracts with vendors and third parties across the Bank’s global operations.

Eligibility

Qualifications:

  • Qualified lawyer in a common law jurisdiction
  • Minimum 2 years of post-qualification experience

Skills and Experience:

  • Good understanding of commercial contract requirements (technology and non-technology procurement)
  • Experience in contract legal support (in-house or law firm)
  • Experience in reviewing contracts using templates, guidance, or playbooks
  • Strong legal drafting and analytical skills
  • Commercially pragmatic and solution-oriented approach
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
  • Strong attention to detail and risk identification
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and validate global procurement contracts including NDAs, SOWs, order forms, and change orders
  • Manage centralized legal mailbox and triage requests to relevant legal teams
  • Provide legal support and clarify contractual queries for stakeholders
  • Assist in contract management, legal operations, and process improvements
  • Support engagement with external counsel and manage legal costs
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, internal policies, and third-party risk frameworks
  • Maintain documentation, templates, and contract playbooks
  • Support global legal and regulatory initiatives

Additional Responsibilities

  • Promote strong legal and ethical standards across the organization
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders including legal, risk, compliance, and business teams
  • Contribute to process enhancements and efficient legal service delivery
  • Ensure adherence to the Group’s Code of Conduct and regulatory requirements
