Is it Possible for a Bihar Resident to Give UP Judiciary?

Share & spread the love

The Uttar Pradesh Judicial Service Civil Judge (Junior Division) Examination, commonly known as the UP Judiciary Exam, is conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC). One common question among aspirants from outside Uttar Pradesh is whether they are eligible to appear for this exam. Particularly, many candidates from Bihar often ask: Is it possible for a Bihar resident to give the UP Judiciary exam?

The answer is yes. A Bihar resident can definitely apply for and appear in the UP Judiciary Exam. There is no domicile restriction requiring a candidate to be a native of Uttar Pradesh to be eligible for the exam.

Eligibility Criteria for UP Judiciary Exam

The eligibility criteria for the UP Judiciary Exam focus primarily on educational qualification, age limit, nationality, and good character. The state of origin or domicile is not considered a barrier.

The key eligibility requirements are:

  • Educational Qualification: The candidate must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB) from a recognised university or institution. It can either be a three-year or five-year integrated law degree.
  • Age Limit: Generally, candidates must be between 22 years and 35 years of age. Relaxation in the upper age limit is provided to candidates belonging to reserved categories as per government norms.
  • Nationality: The candidate must be an Indian citizen.
  • Character: Candidates must be of good moral character and must not have been involved in any criminal activities.

As long as a candidate meets these requirements, they can apply for the UP Judiciary exam regardless of their home state, including those from Bihar.

No Domicile Certificate Requirement

Unlike certain state government jobs that require a domicile certificate, the UP Judiciary Exam does not require candidates to submit proof of Uttar Pradesh domicile. Therefore, candidates from Bihar are equally eligible as those from Uttar Pradesh.

However, it is important to note that reservation benefits like those for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), and Other Backward Classes (OBC) are generally applicable to domiciles of Uttar Pradesh. A Bihar resident would be considered under the general (unreserved) category unless they have a valid UP caste certificate.

Other Important Points

  • Candidates must ensure that their LLB degree is from a recognised university approved by the Bar Council of India (BCI).
  • Those in their final year of LLB are generally not eligible to apply unless they have already completed their degree by the time of application.
  • Medical fitness is necessary. Candidates must be physically and mentally fit to perform judicial duties.

Conclusion

In summary, a Bihar resident can surely appear for the UP Judiciary Exam provided they meet the general eligibility conditions laid down by the UPPSC. Your state of residence does not limit your opportunities to pursue a judicial career in Uttar Pradesh.

Therefore, aspirants from Bihar should focus on preparing for the exam without any hesitation. With proper planning, dedication, and understanding of the UP judiciary syllabus and pattern, candidates can successfully compete and achieve their goal of becoming a Civil Judge in Uttar Pradesh.
