Atal Bihari Vajpayee School of Legal Studies, Kanpur, stands for excellence in legal education and was established in 2017 under the illustrious banner of Chhatrapati Shahu Ji Maharaj University, Kanpur. The premier law school is set up with a mission to pioneer legal education reforms and to anchor the transformation of the Indian legal system through research and policy interventions.

It offers five-year integrated Undergraduate Programmes like BA. LL. B.(Honours), B.B.A. LL.B. (Honours), Three-Year LL.B. (Honours), and one-year and two-year LL.M. programmes with specializations in Business Law, Criminal Law, and Constitutional Law. The department also offers a Ph.D. in Law.

Conference Overview

The International Conference on Law, Technology and Society: Emerging Issues and Interdisciplinary Perspectives aims to bridge the gap between legal theory and technological practice by fostering dialogue among legal scholars, technologists, ethicists, and policymakers. Conference will explore a wide range of anticipated issues, including algorithmic decision-making and its implications for justice and accountability; the legal dimensions of cybersecurity and data privacy; intellectual property challenges in the age of digital innovation; ethical concerns surrounding the deployment of autonomous systems; and the varying regulatory responses to disruptive technologies across different jurisdictions.

This conference will facilitate a cross-disciplinary exchange of ideas, bringing together experts from law, technology and social sciences to explore innovative legal solutions to modern challenges. This conference will foster academic discourse, encourage policy-oriented discussions, and provide a networking opportunity for global experts.

The event will be conducted in a hybrid format, allowing for participation from international speakers, researchers, and scholars, both in-person and virtually. It will include keynote speeches, plenary sessions, paper presentations, expert panel discussions, and interactive workshops. This event will bring together a diverse collection of scholarly and practice-based contributions that will critically examine the complex and evolving relationship between law and emerging technologies.

Call for Papers

Participants are invited to submit original, unpublished research papers for presentation at the conference. Selected high-quality papers will be considered for publication in a special issue to be published by Sage Journals or any other reputed Scopus-indexed journals/ Web of Science, and/or a chapter in an edited book published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing (Indexed in Web of Science).

Please note that authors of papers selected for publication by the publisher would have to pay Article Processing charges separately. The journal/ publisher may ask the authors of the shortlisted papers for required revisions of the paper to ensure their suitability for the journal/ publication.

The abstract should not exceed 300 words and must indicate the theme of the proposed research with relevant keywords. It must be accompanied by a cover page which should include:

  • Sub-theme of the paper,
  • Title of the Paper
  • Name of the author(s)
  • E-mail address of author(s)
  • Postal Address and Contact Number
  •  Co-authorship is allowed.

Note:

  • All Abstract submissions are required to be mailed to [email protected] before the last date of Abstract Submission.
  • Subject Line of the Mail should be [Abstract Submission for International Conference on Law, Technology and Society: Emerging Issues and Interdisciplinary Perspectives].
  • Document Name must be in the following format: [Author Name, Title of the Paper].

A maximum of six authors per submission is allowed.

Important instructions for full-length paper submission

  • Word Limit – 2500 words – 8000 words [Excluding endnotes and Abstract]
  • Citation Format – APA. Use only Endnotes.
  • Font – Times New Roman (12), Line-Spacing: 1.5.

Note

Participants are required to register and make the payment for the conference at the time of registration via the Google Form. No payment is required for the submission of the abstract. Payment should be made only after the acceptance of the abstract has been communicated.
