About the Organisation

IILM Law School Gurugram is a pathway, not just to the legal profession, but for many leadership roles in society. The Law School offers five-year undergraduate programmes in B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) And B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), as well as a one-year postgraduate LL.M. programme. The learning environment is conducive to the development of well-rounded lawyers and legal practitioners, as it is intellectually stimulating, forward-looking, and professionally supportive.

About the Center of Excellence in Legal Writing

The skill of writing and the art of presentation are the two defining characteristics of excellence in the field of law. Legal writing is an activity that combines these two elements and considering the same, IILM Law School has established a Centre of Excellence for Legal Writing that hone the writing and research skills of the students. The Centre conducts various activities like article writing, judgment analysis, essay competitions, research workshops etc.

About the Event

In an era of rapid globalization, technological advancements, and evolving social dynamics, the legal landscape is constantly being reshaped. The 21st century presents unprecedented challenges and opportunities that call for innovative legal thinking and robust frameworks to uphold justice, equity, and the rule of law. T

o encourage critical engagement with these evolving issues, CELW proposes to organise an Essay Writing Competition that invites students and scholars to delve into the intricacies of contemporary legal challenges in higher education in India specifically in light of the Constitutional Law. The theme of the competition is a part of “संि वधान सेभारत: 75 Years of Democracy and Justice” to commemorate 75 years of the Constitution of India, a series of events launched by IILM Law School, Gurugram.

TOPIC:  “Aspirations of Constitutional Reforms for a Just and Equitable Higher Education System in India”

Eligibility

Open to Undergraduate and postgraduate Students and Research Scholars across India. Participants must submit original work in adherence to the competition’s theme.

Prizes

  • First Position- 10,000 Rs
  • Second Position- 5000 Rs
  • E-certificates will be provided to all participants. The first prize is reserved for participants who are not affiliated with IILM University.

Formatting Guidelines

  • Font Style: Times New Roman
  • Font Size: 12
  • Line Spacing: 1.5
  • Alignment: Justified
  • Margins: 1 inch on all sides
  • Paragraph Indentation: The first line of each paragraph should be indented by 0.5 inches.
  • Headers/Footers: No headers or footers are allowed, except for the page number at the bottom-right corner.
  • File Naming Convention: [Participant Name]_Essay Title.pdf (e.g.,RahulSharma_Eductional Reforms In India.pdf) File Format: PDF Only.
  • Submissions deviating from the mentioned format will not be considered.

Evaluation Guidelines

  • Creativity and Originality: 25%
  • Content Relevance: 25%
  • Clarity and Articulation: 20%
  • Adherence to the Theme: 20%
  • Grammar and Presentation: 10%

Submission Guidelines

  • The essay must be between [2000–2500 words] (excluding references).
  • Use APA Style or any consistent citation format for references and bibliography (if applicable).
  • All quoted or referenced material must be appropriately cited.
  • All submissions will undergo a plagiarism check.
  • Essays with more than 10% similarity will be disqualified.

  • Declaration of results: 20th March, 2025

Additional Guidelines

  • Only one submission per participant is allowed.
  • Essays must not contain any personal identifiers within the document to ensure fair evaluation.
  • The organizing committee reserves the right to modify the guidelines.
  • By submitting the essay, participants grant the organizers the right to publish or reproduce the essay with due acknowledgement.
  • Prize money will be transferred directly to the winners’ bank accounts, and the necessary details will be requested through a separate email.
