Delhi High Court Greenlights CLAT 2025 Results After Revising Answer Key

The Delhi High Court has cleared the way for the Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) to announce the CLAT 2025 results, following a ruling that revised two disputed questions in the answer key.
A division bench, consisting of Acting Chief Justice Vibhu Bakhru and Justice Tushar Rao Gedela, upheld the single judge’s decision to amend the results. The court noted no apparent error in the earlier order and granted permission for the results to proceed without delay.
Court’s Observations
The bench agreed with the single judge’s assessment, which found errors in the answers to two test questions. The court remarked, “Prima facie, we concur with the single judge’s view. You can proceed with the result. There is no interim order.”
This decision allows the consortium to release the revised results in line with the single judge’s directive. The matter is scheduled for further hearing on January 7, 2025.
Background of the Case
The controversy began when a CLAT aspirant filed a plea challenging the accuracy of the answer key published on December 7, 2024. The aspirant argued that errors in the answer key could impact the fairness of the test results.
Responding to the plea, the single judge’s order on December 20 identified two incorrect answers in the key. The court directed the consortium to make corrections, emphasising that ignoring the errors would lead to injustice for test-takers.
Consortium’s Appeal Denied
The Consortium of NLUs sought to overturn the single judge’s ruling by filing an appeal with the division bench. However, the court refused to grant interim relief, effectively endorsing the earlier order.
This development ensures the timely declaration of CLAT 2025 results, a critical milestone for law school aspirants across the country.
What’s Next?
The revised CLAT results are expected to be announced soon, offering clarity to candidates after weeks of uncertainty. Meanwhile, the legal challenge will continue with the next hearing in early January.
