About the Opportunity

The 11th Trial Advocacy and Judgment Writing Competition (STAC), 2026, hosted by the Advanced Criminal Law Studies Committee of SLCU, is an annual flagship event conducted offline from 5th to 7th March 2026 at the Central Campus, Bengaluru. Featuring distinguished judges and senior advocates from the Karnataka High Court, it fosters trial advocacy skills, criminal litigation proficiency, courtroom etiquette, and research acumen, having successfully engaged participants from law schools nationwide across its previous ten editions.​

Theme

​ The 11th STAC 2025–26 is based on the theme of Criminal Conspiracy, Corruption, and the Administration of Justice. The proposition examines a high-stakes Sessions trial involving allegations of murder and abuse of political and financial power. It challenges participants to engage with core principles of criminal law, evidence, and trial advocacy within the contemporary statutory framework.

Eligibility

The Competition is open to all students pursuing a three-year or five-year Law Degree Course in universities, colleges, or law departments in India, as recognised by the Bar Council of India.

Registration Fee

The registration fee is INR 4,500 plus 18% GST per team. Detailed payment instructions will be provided via email upon confirmation of provisional registration.​

Prizes

  • Winners: INR 35,000, together with additional perks
  • Runners-up: INR 25,000, together with additional perks​
  • Best Advocate: INR 10,000​
  • Best Judgment: INR 5,000

Registration Process

Teams (limited to 30) provisionally register via email to [email protected] using official college/student association email; slots on first-come, first-served basis. Confirmed teams will receive a final registration link and it should be completed by February 25th 2026, with ID verification and payment.
