About the Organisers

The National Law Institute University, Bhopal (‘NLIU’), established in 1997, is the second oldest National Law University in India and carries a distinguished legacy of nearly three decades in imparting quality legal education. The Moot Court Association (‘MCA’), constituted in 2002, is among the oldest student bodies at NLIU and is entrusted with organising and overseeing all mooting and allied activities including organisation of NLIU-Justice R.K. Tankha Memorial International Arbitration Moot, NLIU-VKC Law Offices National Corporate Law Moot and NLIU-Singhania and Partners National Client Counselling Competition annually.

About the Moot

The NLIU takes immense pleasure in announcing the 11th NLIU – Justice R.K. Tankha Memorial International Arbitration Moot, 2026 (‘Moot’) which is going to be held physically on campus of NLIU, Bhopal from 27th – 29th March, 2026.

The Case Record for this edition has been drafted by Mr. Anchit Oswal (Partner, Khaitan & Co) and Mr. Gaurav Sharma (Principal Associate, Khaitan & Co). We are grateful to them for drafting this Case Record, which invites participants to grapple with legal issues central to contemporary commercial disputes, as an escalating conflict brings forth claims of force majeure, contested evidence, and jurisdictional objections, all within the framework of international commercial arbitration.

About Collaborations

The Moot is the flagship event, organised annually in partnership with the Office of Mr. Vivek Tankha (Senior Advocate and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha), in fond memory of Late Hon’ble Mr. Justice R.K. Tankha (Former Judge, High Court of Madhya Pradesh). It is delighted to be supported by the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), one of the world’s leading arbitral institutions, as the Institutional Partner.

Further, this year, the organisers are proud to collaborate with Reynolds Porter Chamberlain LLP (RPC), a London-based international law firm with a global practice, as the International Law Firm Partner. The Moot is also pleased to have onboarded Jus Mundi, one of the leading legal research platforms for arbitration and international law, as the Knowledge Partner.

Format of the Moot

The competition will commence with a Memorial Qualification Round, following which the top 40 teams, based on their memorial scores, will qualify for the Oral Rounds to be conducted in person at the NLIU campus. The Oral Rounds will comprise two Preliminary Rounds, followed by the Quarter-Finals, Semi-Finals, and the Final Round. Please note that participation is limited to a maximum of three teams per institution, and no open or cross-institutional teams shall be permitted.

Registration Fees

The teams shall be informed of the registration fees, if any, for the Memorial Qualification Rounds along with the email containing confirmation of the provisional registration. Further, the teams that qualify for the Oral Rounds shall be required to complete a separate registration by paying an additional fee of INR 3,000 per team member, in accordance with the Rulebook of the Moot. The registration fees may vary for the foreign teams and those completing provisional registration shall be informed accordingly.

  • Last Date for Provisional Registration: 20th February, 2026 [Extended]
  • Last Date for Final Registration: 25th February, 2026 [Extended]
  • Submission of Memorials (Soft-Copy): 7th March, 2026 [Extended]
  • Release of List of Teams Qualifying for Oral Rounds: 11th March, 2026 [Extended]
  • Oral Rounds:27th March – 29th March, 2026

The NLIU is pleased to invite all law schools to participate in the Moot and looks forward to receiving maximum registrations. Please note that provisional registration is mandatory for all institutions. The details for final registration for the Memorial Qualification Rounds will be shared upon confirmation of the provisional registration. Accordingly, we request you to kindly complete the provisional registration by filling out the Google Form provided.
