About The University

National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam (NLUJAA) was established by the Government of Assam by way of the enactment of the National Law University and Judicial Academy, Assam Act, 2009 (Assam Act No. XXV of 2009).

The Hon’ble Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court is the Chancellor of the University. NLUJAA promotes and makes available modern legal education and research facilities to its students, scholars, and faculty drawn from across the country, including the North East, hailing from different socio-economic, ethnic, religious, and cultural backgrounds.

About Gurjeet Singh Memorial Moot Court Competition

The Gurjeet Singh Memorial National Moot Court Competition is organised by the National Law University and Judicial Academy of Assam, in memory of our beloved founder Late Prof.(Dr.) Gurjeet Singh who left for his heavenly abode on the 1st of April 2017, out of indebtedness for his contribution and to symbolically immortalize his legacy in the annals of the National Law University and Judicial Academy of Assam.

Eligibility

The Competition is open to all students, enrolled bona-fide on a regular basis in an undergraduate law course conducted by any recognized Institution/College/University. A recognized Institution/College/University shall be entitled to send only one team to the Competition. Each Team shall comprise a minimum of two members and a maximum of three members.

Awards And Prizes

   The rewards for the participants stands as follows– 

  • Best Team Award: Cash prize of INR 1,00,000/- along with 1 year of SCC Online subscription worth 72000/-
  • Runners-Up Team Award: Cash prize of  INR 60,000/-
  • The Best Memorial Award (Petitioner): Cash prize of INR 25,000/-
  • The Best Memorial Award (Respondent): Cash prize of INR 25,000/-
  • The Best Speaker Award: Cash prize of INR 20,000/-
  • The Best Researcher Award: Cash prize of INR 20,000/-

Timeline Of The Moot

  • Deadline for Registration: 28th May, 2025
  • Deadline for seeking Clarifications: 25th May, 2025
  • Release of Clarifications: 26th May, 2025 
  • Submission of Memorials: 2nd June, 2025
  • Oral Rounds: 6th to 8th June, 2025

Participants are to pay a one time fee of ₹9000 per team to confirm their registration in the competition.
