About The FDP

Climate change has a profound impact on the international community necessitating the initiation of urgent and sustained efforts directed towards its mitigation. In recent times, there has been the occurrence of a paradigm shift in enhancing the understanding of its legal implications, which has in turn driven towards a solution-oriented approach with legal education in its core. The Indo-Dutch Research Centre on Climate Change Law, Research and Education is acting in consonance with this ideal. With its works endeavoring towards the inculcation of climate law and other interdisciplinary laws to legal education, the Centre contributes to the fostering of awareness and realizing such meaningful academic engagements.

The Faculty Development Program (FDP) is an attempt towards the furtherance of these objectives. It is organized in the online mode from the 2nd to 6th of June, 2025, aimed at equipping the members of the law faculty with the tools, insights and academic resources requisite to integrate aspects of climate change law across the legal curriculum. Further, the FDP facilitates a structured approach intended at creating a dialogue focusing on an issue-based analysis of climate concerns within the branches of law, including public, private, constitutional law etc. The participants are expected to take part in the hands on exercise with curriculum restructuring.

The session aims to cover aspects ranging from foundational to thematic approaches, including the identification of pedagogical gaps relating to climate law, analysing interdisciplinary linkages, development of emotions and its effect in the climate classroom, rethinking doctrinal boundaries and reimagining teaching methodologies in view of the dynamic global imperatives. With expert lectures, group activities and dedicated time for syllabus development, this FDP seeks to support participants in critically rethinking the traditional curricula and further formulating one reflecting contemporary climate realities.
