About the Job

Insight Software is inviting applications for the post of Procurement Counsel.

Eligibility

Required Experience & Education

  • LL.B. degree (5-year integrated programme or 3-year programme) from a recognized university approved by the Bar Council of India.
  • Enrollment with a State Bar Council and successful completion of the All India Bar Examination (AIBE).
  • 3–6 years of post-qualification experience, with substantial exposure to technology and SaaS agreements, or software environment.
  • Deep understanding of commercial contract law and labor classification issues.
  • Strong written skills and ability to draft Statements of Work (SOWs) for services.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to translate legal concepts into practical business advice.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously and make informed decisions.

Preferred Experience

  • Experience working in-house within a commercial law team on the “buy-side” at a technology company or advising tech clients at a law firm.
  • Experience with contract management systems and legal operations tools.
  • Flexibility and adaptability.

Responsibilities

  • Review and negotiate procurement contracts including software licenses, SaaS agreements, cloud service contracts, professional services agreements, contractor agreements, MSAs, SOWs, and NDAs.
  • Draft and structure legally sound Statements of Work (SOWs).
  • Advise internal stakeholders on legal and business risks related to software and contractor procurement.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations such as GDPR, CCPA, export control laws, and labor/employment standards.
  • Collaborate with IT, InfoSec, HR, Accounting, and Procurement teams for vendor onboarding and contract lifecycle management.
  • Develop and maintain procurement templates, clause libraries, and playbooks.
  • Support internal audits and vendor risk assessments.
  • Assist in resolving disputes or performance issues with vendors and contractors.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments in technology procurement and workforce compliance.
  • Manage multiple priorities independently while balancing legal risk with business objectives.
