About the Job

Stantec is seeking an experienced Contract Review Lawyer to join its Risk Management Team in Pune. The role involves reviewing contracts, identifying legal and commercial risks, advising project teams on risk mitigation strategies, and ensuring compliance with corporate standards and policies. The selected candidate will work closely with lawyers, contract review specialists, project leadership teams, and corporate counsel across multiple jurisdictions.

Eligibility

• LL.B. or an equivalent law degree.
• Admission to practice law in Pune, India.
• Minimum 5 years of commercial or litigation experience related to professional design services, construction law, or similar areas.
• Experience gained either in a law firm or an in-house legal team.

Responsibilities

• Review contracts to ensure compliance with corporate standards, policies, and risk management requirements.
• Identify, assess, and communicate legal and commercial risks to project leadership.
• Coordinate with local corporate counsel and internal stakeholders across different jurisdictions.
• Develop practical solutions to resolve contractual and legal issues.
• Review scopes of services and commercial terms and assess associated risks.
• Contextualize contractual risks based on project characteristics and business objectives.
• Advise teams on internal processes and actions to mitigate legal and project-related risks.
• Support the continuous improvement of contracting processes, templates, resources, and precedents.
• Contribute to ethical decision-making and promote best practices in contract management.
