How did you apply

I sent my application through contact but one can call the particular branch of Saikrishna at which one wants to intern and they’ll provide the details. Please remember to apply at least 7-8 months before as the slots for June got filled up in November.

Work Profile/Main tasks

Since it was a virtual internship, I used to text and email my mentor for work and he used to ask his team to allocate me work. But afterward, I got acquainted with a few Associates and I used to ask for work from them only.

I was allocated to the Trademark Team and therefore, I got work regarding trademarks only. Usually, the tasks were research assignments like researching case laws regarding various provisions of the Trade Marks Act, 1999, issue-based research work, research-based comparative analysis work among others. Once, I also got to draft a legal notice reply.

Work environment

The work environment was very relaxed and everyone was very understanding and polite. Once I wasn’t able to perform a task and the Associate who had assigned me that task, very politely made me understand the task and gave me some important insights. People do understand that you’re an intern and you’re here to learn and as an intern, you’re allowed to commit some mistakes but it won’t be appreciated if you repeat them.

Good things

Although I hadn’t studied trademark law, I got to learn so much about trademark law and also some basics of drafting. The relaxed environment and the polite people, add up to the charm of the internship. I also honed my research skills. My co-interns were also very nice and helpful. The internship was neither very hectic nor without any work i.e., there was proper work-life balance.

Bad things

The only bad thing I found was the virtual mode of the internship. Had it been a physical internship, I’d have learned more and got to interact with the people and my co-interns.

Stipend (if any)

No stipend

Parting words

Saikrishna Internship is a great internship for IPR enthusiasts and it is a blend of all the types of tasks that a lawyer does i.e., both research work and drafting work.
