MNLU Mumbai Celebrates 80th Independence Day with Patriotic Fervour,Marks Occasion with Book launch

Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai celebrated the 80th Independence Day of the “Republic of India” with great patriotic fervour and enthusiasm at the MNLU Campus. The occasion brought together faculty, teaching staff, non-teaching staff and students, who assembled to commemorate the historic day and pay tribute to the sacrifices of the nation’s freedom fighters.

The Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Ukey, hoisted the National flag at the MNLU Campus amidst the singing of the National Anthem, marking the formal commencement of the celebrations. The flag hoisting ceremony was met with enthusiastic participation from the entire University community.

Vice Chancellor’s Address

Addressing the gathering of teaching and non-teaching staff and students, the Vice Chancellor spoke on the significance of upholding moral and ethical standards in life. He urged the students and staff to imbibe these values in order to become better individuals and to meaningfully contribute towards the development of the institution as well as nation building.

The Vice Chancellor also highlighted India’s remarkable growth and progress in the years following Independence, with particular emphasis on the transformative impact of the Liberalisation, Privatisation and Globalisation (LPG) Reforms in shaping the nation’s economic trajectory. He reflected on how these reforms opened new avenues of growth and positioned India on the path towards becoming a major global economy.

Concluding his address, the Vice Chancellor once again underscored the importance of maintaining ethical standards in life, stating that integrity and moral conduct remain the foundation of both individual character and institutional excellence.

Book Launch

As part of the celebrations, the Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Prof. (Dr.) Dilip Ukey, along with the Registrar, Prof. (Dr.) Prakash Chaudhary, launched two books authored by members of the University community.

The first book, “Constitution Eclipsed – Retold Memoir of the Emergency Proclamation” (published by All India Reporter), authored by Dr. Pratapsinh Salunke, Associate Professor and Associate Dean, and Officer on Special Duty to the Vice Chancellor, was launched at the event.

The second book, “Financial and Systemic Fraud: Legal Framework and Challenges” (published by Whitesman Publishing), authored by Dr. Nanda Pardhey, Associate Professor (Law), was also launched on the occasion.

Both publications were well received by the University community and were commended for their contribution to legal scholarship.
