About the Job

Ushur is seeking a Legal Counsel, Commercial & Technology to support its commercial, procurement and day-to-day legal requirements.

The role will report directly to the Associate General Counsel and involve working with stakeholders across the India office and global business teams. The position focuses on commercial contracting, procurement, AI and technology agreements, data protection, information security and practical legal support.

The role requires a lawyer with strong contracting fundamentals who can independently manage legal matters within defined escalation guidelines.

Eligibility

• 3–5 years of post-qualification experience.
• Meaningful experience in SaaS, technology, software, IT services or technology-related commercial contracting.
• Strong contract drafting and negotiation skills.
• Ability to independently review and negotiate commercial agreements and engage directly with counterparties.
• Ability to assess commercial risks and provide practical, business-focused legal advice.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to independently manage multiple stakeholders and competing priorities.
• Willingness to work in a fast-paced and evolving business environment.

Responsibilities

Commercial and Technology Contracting

• Drafting, reviewing and negotiating commercial and technology agreements, including SaaS and subscription agreements, MSAs, SOWs, Order Forms, vendor and supplier agreements, professional services and implementation agreements, partner, reseller and referral agreements, NDAs, DPAs and BAAs.
• Advising on limitations of liability, indemnification, intellectual property, confidentiality, data protection, security, warranties, SLAs, termination and insurance provisions.
• Supporting customer and vendor contracting.
• Assisting business teams in navigating contractual issues and negotiations.

Business Partnering and Procurement

• Serving as a key legal point of contact for the India office.
• Supporting business stakeholders with day-to-day legal and commercial requests.
• Managing legal review within the India procurement contracting process.
• Reviewing vendor agreements, negotiating terms and identifying contractual risks.
• Working with Finance, Procurement, HR, Information Security, Sales, Operations and other functions on legal and contractual matters.
• Building strong stakeholder relationships and providing practical legal advice.

Legal Operations and Broader Support

• Maintaining and improving contract templates, playbooks, standard positions and contracting workflows.
• Establishing efficient processes for recurring legal requests.
• Assisting the Associate General Counsel with corporate, employment, compliance, procurement and other legal matters.
• Coordinating with external counsel on specialised matters where appropriate.
• Assisting with legal research, regulatory developments and internal legal initiatives.
