About the Job

Obhan Mason is hiring an Associate for its Mumbai office. The role is suited for legal professionals with experience in commercial transactions within the media and entertainment sector, coupled with exposure to commercial litigation.

The selected candidate will work on transaction structuring, contract negotiations, legal risk assessments, and litigation matters with a particular focus on intellectual property and information technology disputes.

Eligibility

• LL.B., B.A. LL.B., B.B.A. LL.B., or equivalent law degree.
• 4–6 years of Post-Qualification Experience (PQE).
• Experience in commercial transactions in the media and entertainment sector.
• Strong legal research, drafting, and communication skills.

Preferred

Experience in:

• Commercial Litigation
• Intellectual Property (IP) Litigation
• Information Technology (IT) Litigation

Responsibilities

Commercial Transactions

• Conduct legal risk assessments.
• Draft, structure, and negotiate commercial transactions and agreements in the media and entertainment sector.
• Work on:
  • Acquisition Agreements
  • Licensing Agreements
  • Co-Production Agreements
  • Talent Agreements
  • Distribution Agreements

Litigation

• Draft pleadings and legal submissions.
• Conduct legal research and case analysis.
• Attend hearings before judicial and quasi-judicial authorities.
• Manage commercial litigation matters, particularly those involving IP and IT disputes.

Skills Required

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong organisational abilities.
• Effective interpersonal and collaborative skills.
• Strong analytical and legal research capabilities.
