Applications are invited for the position of Lead – Legal (Real Estate) for an organization in the Cement sector, based at Ahura Centre, Mumbai.
The role involves end-to-end legal support for real estate transactions, safeguarding the organisation’s real estate assets, and ensuring compliance across acquisitions, leasing, development, and dispute management.

Job Purpose
- Safeguard real estate assets of the organization
- Provide legal advisory on land acquisition, leasing, and development
- Draft, review, negotiate, and finalize real estate documentation
- Manage disputes and ensure regulatory compliance
- Support business and project teams with timely legal solutions
Eligibility
- Strong experience in real estate transactions and land laws
- Expertise in title due diligence and documentation
- Ability to independently close transactions
- Strong negotiation and drafting skills
- Experience managing litigation and external counsel
- High attention to documentation hygiene and governance
- Strong stakeholder management and commercial judgment
Responsibilities
1. Real Estate Legal Advisory & Transaction Support
- Advise project and business teams on legal feasibility of land acquisition and leasing
- Conduct title due diligence and issue legal risk notes
- Recommend mitigation strategies
2. Contract Drafting & Negotiation
- Draft, vet, and negotiate:
- Sale Deeds
- Lease Deeds
- MoUs
- Licenses
- Easements
- Right of Way (ROW) Agreements
- Ensure commercial alignment and legal robustness
- Coordinate registrations and ensure timely transaction closure
3. Litigation & Dispute Management
- Manage disputes related to:
- Title
- Lease issues
- Encroachments
- Land acquisition
- Coordinate with external advocates
- Track case progress and mitigate risk
4. Risk Identification & Mitigation
- Identify risks related to title, zoning, land use, and statutory approvals
- Recommend alternate transaction structures
- Ensure governance and compliance adherence
5. Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Projects, Commercial, Finance, and Procurement teams
- Balance business urgency with legal risk management
- Align legal advice with commercial priorities
6. External Counsel Management
- Brief and manage external advocates
- Monitor quality and control legal costs
7. Process Standardization & Documentation
- Develop templates, SOPs, and checklists
- Maintain structured documentation and record management systems
- Maintain organized repositories for deeds and statutory records
8. Regulatory & Statutory Compliance
- Ensure compliance with:
- Land laws
- Municipal regulations
- Stamp duty and registration requirements
- Track legal and regulatory changes
- Flag deviations and seek approvals
9. Coordination with Authorities
- Liaise with:
- Sub-registrars
- Revenue offices
- Surveyors
- Brokers
- Support on-site registrations and inspections
10. Risk Reporting & Preventive Advisory
- Maintain dashboards of legal cases and risks
- Provide periodic updates to leadership
- Offer preventive advisory to avoid future disputes
- Support audits and internal reviews
