The Global Business Services Center (GBSC) is Mastercard’s shared services organisation and provides services to all regions and business units spanning 50 countries. The GBSC is also developing a legal shared services function in partnership with the Law, Franchise and Integrity team.

About the Job

Mastercard is hiring for the position of Associate Specialist, Legal Services – Privacy and Data Protection Services in Pune.

The selected candidate will be part of a team of privacy legal specialists within the broader GBSC Legal Services team. The role will support Mastercard’s integrated approach to privacy and data protection, with a focus on reviewing global cookies, managing privacy breach incidents, and delivering efficient business results.

Eligibility

• Must be a Law graduate.
• IAPP/Privacy certification will be an advantage.
• Experience with incident management systems and/or data protection practices.
• Familiarity with cookie consent tools such as OneTrust and web compliance.
• Knowledge of data privacy laws, including GDPR and CCPA, is required.
• Experience working with cross-functional teams in a compliance or IT environment.
• Basic understanding of web technologies and how cookies function.
• Excellent organisational and documentation skills.
• Effective communication and collaboration abilities.
• Proficiency in MS Excel.
• Proficiency in creating different types of metrics for leadership.

Responsibilities

• Understand complex global privacy and data protection laws, including GDPR, and apply legal concepts to business and data processes.
• Log, categorise, and track data protection and security incidents.
• Ensure prompt updates and proper documentation for each incident.
• Coordinate with IT, Legal, and Security teams to gather incident details.
• Monitor incident resolution and follow up on remediation actions.
• Generate reports and support audit trails as required for compliance.
• Review and assess website cookies for compliance with privacy regulations.
• Collaborate with website and marketing teams to ensure cookie banners and consent mechanisms remain up to date.
• Maintain a detailed inventory of cookies across company websites.
• Support periodic audits and assessments of cookie practices.
• Provide recommendations for cookie classification and consent management improvements.
• Support business and legal colleagues in adopting a privacy-by-design approach for data-driven products.
• Provide customer service in accordance with GBSC standards relating to quality, response time, resolution time, and Service Level Objectives.
