About the Job

Amazon’s Legal Department is hiring an Associate Corporate Counsel (AWS Legal) based in Gurugram. This is a fixed-term position of 3 years. The role uniquely combines legal advisory responsibilities with company secretarial duties, supporting AWS’s operations in India.

The selected candidate will work closely with sales, marketing, product, and cross-functional teams, providing strategic legal guidance while ensuring strong corporate governance and regulatory compliance.

Eligibility

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of legal experience
• Experience across a mix of corporate law firm and in-house roles
• Experience in contracting and legal compliance review
• Experience in reviewing, drafting, and negotiating commercial contracts
• LL.B. from a recognized Indian university
• Associate Membership (ACS) with the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) with a valid current membership
• Experience in interpreting and applying Indian laws and regulations in a business environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in a high-growth technology company
• Knowledge of IT infrastructure, outsourcing, telecommunications, or cloud computing services
• Understanding of intellectual property, competition, and privacy laws

Responsibilities

• Acting as legal counsel and company secretary for AWS India operations
• Providing strategic legal advice to business and cross-functional teams
• Managing corporate governance, including board meetings, resolutions, and statutory records
• Overseeing regulatory filings and compliance under the Companies Act and other applicable Indian laws
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a wide range of commercial contracts
• Supporting contracting and legal compliance reviews
• Interpreting and applying Indian laws and regulations in a business context
• Ensuring end-to-end compliance with applicable corporate and regulatory requirements
