About the Job

Munich Re India Branch is hiring a Treaty Wording Expert for its Life & Health team. The selected candidate will be responsible for finalising contracts and agreements associated with the lines of business written by the branch.

The role involves treaty wording, non-disclosure agreements, engagement with clients’ legal teams to resolve contractual clauses, and providing legal support on underwriting and claims matters.

Hold a law degree.
Have at least three years of experience in the financial services or IT sector. Experience in the insurance or reinsurance industry would be beneficial.
Possess excellent time management skills and the ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
Demonstrate strong problem-solving capabilities and the ability to work independently when required.
Have good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including proficiency in English.
Have knowledge of negotiation best practices, both in person and in writing, while considering the business context and mutual interests of the parties involved.
Be willing to travel as required.

Responsibilities

Prepare contractual agreements using Munich Re’s current methods, considering client needs and requirements.
Collaborate with actuaries, underwriters, analysts and reinsurance account staff.
Engage regularly with experts in the regional office (LH2).
Ensure treaty terms align with standard templates provided by LH2 and that agreements are drafted in legally binding language in accordance with client requirements.
Assist clients in fulfilling contractual obligations or terminating contracts on mutually agreed terms.
Provide legal inputs to underwriting and claims teams on specific cases to support timely decision-making.
Review existing treaty terms and conditions to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws and regulations.
Explain treaty and contract terminology clearly to clients and other stakeholders.
Monitor progress against agreed timelines and submit drafts and documents on time.
Proofread, edit and fact-check legal documents to ensure accuracy and consistency, following applicable style guidelines.

The position is based in Munich Re India’s Life & Health team. The successful candidate will work with internal teams, regional experts and clients’ legal teams on contractual matters.
