About the Job

Applications are invited for the position of Team Member – Legal to support the IP & CGA Legal Department. The role involves end-to-end handling of intellectual property matters and commercial contracts, along with legal research and project support to the respective Team Leads.

The position requires independent handling of basic commercial agreements, IP advisory, and coordination with internal stakeholders and external counsel.

Eligibility

• LL.B. degree
• 2–5 years of total legal experience
• Strong experience in IP laws (Trademark & Copyright) and commercial contracts
• Ability to independently manage assignments with minimal supervision

Responsibilities

Trademarks

• Conducting trademark searches in India and international jurisdictions
• Advising on registrability, use, and commercial risks associated with trademarks
• Supporting product launches with IP risk assessments and mitigation strategies
• Drafting and responding to Examination Reports, Oppositions, Counterstatements, and Affidavits
• Attending Show Cause Hearings
• Managing trademark renewals, coining, branding, and trade dress reviews
• Drafting Cease & Desist Notices and advising on misuse and disparagement
• Conducting trademark due diligence
• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating Trademark, Copyright, and Patent Assignment Agreements

Copyright

• Drafting and reviewing disclaimers, consent letters, and patient information leaflets
• Reviewing privacy policies and terms of use for websites and mobile applications
• Advising on advertisements, videos, and digital content
• Handling copyright and domain name-related matters

Commercial Contracts

• Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating Trademark and Copyright License Agreements
• Drafting and negotiating NDAs/CDAs, service agreements, franchise and settlement agreements
• Reviewing and negotiating IP clauses across various commercial contracts
• Handling agreements such as supply & distribution, material transfer, product registration, and in-licensing agreements
• Identifying and flagging legal and commercial risks to business teams
• Ensuring appropriate internal approvals before contract finalisation

Key Interactions

• Business and functional teams for requirement gathering and documentation
• Counterparties for negotiation and finalisation of agreements
• External counsels and law firms for opinions and litigation support

Major Challenges

• Managing high volumes of commercial agreements and IP matters
• Independent end-to-end handling of basic contracts while supporting senior team members
• Ensuring quality, turnaround time, and cost-effectiveness
