About the Job
NLSIU is inviting applications for 2 Senior Research Associate positions under the WILL Initiative. These are full-time contractual positions based at the NLSIU campus in Bengaluru. The initial tenure is one year, extendable based on project requirements and satisfactory performance.

Eligibility
Essential
- Graduate degree in Law.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant post-qualification experience in legal research, policy engagement, and/or action-based research projects.
Desirable
- Master’s degree in Law, Social Sciences, or allied disciplines.
- Thorough understanding of the structure and functioning of the legal profession in India.
- Demonstrated research experience, including at least one publication or equivalent scholarly output.
- Excellent academic, policy, and public-facing writing and editing skills.
- Strong analytical, communication, technical, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
Responsibilities
- Lead qualitative and quantitative research on women litigating lawyers, institutional challenges, and legal profession reforms.
- Ensure compliance with ethical research practices.
- Conduct legal and policy analysis, literature reviews, and data collection.
- Organize stakeholder consultations and identify reform measures.
- Design research resources, outreach materials, and dissemination strategies.
- Strengthen forums and networks for women lawyers.
- Supervise research associates and interns.
- Publish at least one peer-reviewed journal article annually or two shorter publications such as policy briefs, blog articles, case briefs, or commentaries.
- Contribute to proposal development, fundraising, and strategic research planning.
