National Law University Jodhpur is serving as the academic partner institution for a sponsored research project awarded under the thematic work programme of the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Rajasthan.
About the Job
The project titled “Electoral Management Bodies and Media-Based Voter Education: A Comparative Analysis of Regulatory and Institutional Provisions Worldwide to Design a Global Standard Model” focuses on undertaking a comparative analysis of regulatory and institutional provisions governing the relationship between Electoral Management Bodies and media-based voter education worldwide.
The project aims to develop a practitioner-oriented global resource and design a Global Standard Model. The final report will be published by IIIDEM under the aegis of the Election Commission of India.
The selected candidates will work under the guidance of the State Thematic Group and the supervision of the Chief Electoral Officer, Rajasthan, and the Principal Investigator at NLUJ.

- Research Associate – 01 Position
- Research Assistant – 01 Position
Eligibility
Research Associate
Applicants must possess either:
- A Master’s degree in Political Science, Journalism & Mass Communication, Law, Public Policy, Public Administration, or allied disciplines with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognised university along with UGC NET qualification; or
- A Ph.D. in a relevant discipline.
Desirable Qualifications
- Research experience in electoral law, media regulation, voter education, or comparative democratic governance
- Published papers in Scopus/UGC CARE List journals or policy publications
Research Assistant
Applicants must possess a postgraduate degree in Political Science, Journalism & Mass Communication, Law, Public Policy, Public Administration, or related fields with a minimum of 55% marks from a recognised university.
Desirable Qualifications
- Familiarity with research methods and documentation
- Prior research or internship experience related to elections, media studies, or disability/rights frameworks
Responsibilities
Research Associate
Responsibilities include:
- Conducting qualitative and quantitative primary and secondary research
- Undertaking literature reviews and evidence mapping
- Identifying and screening relevant cases
- Coordinating stakeholder consultations and workshops
- Undertaking comparative analysis and thematic synthesis
- Assisting in drafting thematic reports and policy briefs
- Coordinating with IIIDEM, thematic leads, faculty supervisors, and stakeholders
- Assisting in surveys and questionnaires for Election Management Bodies
- Maintaining research ethics, confidentiality, and data integrity
Research Assistant
Responsibilities include:
- Assisting in data collection, field visits, and documentation
- Preparing survey instruments and questionnaire formats
- Compiling and synthesising research findings
- Supporting statistical and qualitative data analysis
- Assisting in drafting reports and literature reviews
- Maintaining research records and correspondence
- Providing logistical and coordination support to the Thematic Group
Duration
The engagement will be on a contractual basis for approximately three months from the date of appointment and will be co-terminus with the project timeline.
Mode
The engagement will be largely online, with periods of offline engagement at the campus and in the field.
Salary
- Research Associate: Rs. 30,000 per month
- Research Assistant: Rs. 10,000 per month
The remuneration will be provided for the duration of the project.
Additional Information
- The engagement is project-specific and does not confer any right to continued employment or regularisation.
- Selected candidates will not be entitled to any additional benefits.
- Preference may be given to candidates with published research experience in Scopus/UGC CARE List journals, policy briefs, or other academic publications in relevant areas.
- Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for interviews.
- No TA/DA will be provided for attending the interview.
- The University and the Office of the CEO, Rajasthan reserve the right to shortlist candidates, modify the number of positions, or keep any post vacant in case suitable candidates are not found.

Location
The positions are based at National Law University Jodhpur and/or the Office of the Chief Electoral Officer, Rajasthan, as determined by the Principal Investigator and the CEO Office.
