Research Associate for ICSSR Project at NLSIU, Bangalore [Stipend Rs 47K]: Apply by May 28

About National Law School of India University
NLSIU, Bangalore is India’s premier University for legal education established under the Karnataka Act 22 of 1986. NLSIU has been ranked as the top law institute in the country for several years, and has been consistently named the best law school in the NIRF University Rankings.
About the Project
The project aims to examine the dynamics of formal and informal constitutionalism in India, with a particular focus on the formation, functioning, and adjudication of constitutional conventions. It argues that the prolix nature of the Constitution of India does not negate the institutionalisation of informal constitutional practices. Moving beyond traditional common-law frameworks and the Jennings test, the study adopts a post-colonial perspective to analyse how constitutional conventions evolve, operate, and influence governance. It further explores their role in addressing constitutional silences, shaping institutional interactions, and contributing to constitutional culture.
