About Indian Centre for Child and Human Rights (ICCHR)

Indian Centre for Child and Human Rights (ICCHR) is an initiative by the Truth & Youth and Umeed NGO at its inception in 2021, aimed at promoting research and facilitating students and researchers with a proper understanding of Child and Human rights. The Centre is a national research Centre under the supervision of UNICEF India and provides integrated technical support to legal institutions of governance at the local, state, and national levels for the protection of child and human rights through knowledge, research, and resources.

The Centre’s mission is to engage with Child and Human rights from a multidisciplinary perspective with a main emphasis on practical and ground research. To achieve its mission, the ICCHR engages in publishing a quarterly and half-yearly Extensive Research Project (ERP) on various contemporary issues concerning Child and Human rights of national and international importance. The research project covers suggestions and detailed analysis of the ground report for the concerned authorities and institutions to work upon.

In addition to its research activities, the ICCHR collaborates with various NGOs, conducts webinars and seminars, and runs awareness campaigns. The Centre also runs various PAN India internship programs to provide opportunities to students from various backgrounds and felicitate budding learners to show their skills on various platforms run by the ICCHR and its associates.

Presently we are offering two Internship Programs:

  1. Legal Research Internship
  2. Legal Writer Internship

About the Internship

The Centre is involved in an extension research project on Tribal Rights, “Fading Rights and Deepening Interests: A contradiction between Tribal Rights and Cost of Development.” The research project is under the supervision of UNICEF India and United Nations Academic Impact (UNAI) which was announced on 9th August 2022. This research project aims to investigate the challenges faced by tribal communities across India and the contradiction between tribal rights and the cost of development.

The research report will provide recommendations and a detailed analysis of ground reports for Central and State Governments and institutions to work on. The internship offered is based on this extension research project on Tribal Rights. The internship is open to students who are interested in the field of Human and Tribal Rights in India. The internship provides an excellent opportunity for the interns to gain hands-on experience in the field of tribal rights and development, and to work closely with experts in this field.

The interns will have the opportunity to learn from the ground level, and gain valuable insights into the challenges faced by tribal communities. They will also have the opportunity to contribute towards the protection of tribal rights by working on this research project.
