NLU Meghalaya Appoints Prof Jyoti Mozika as Vice-Chancellor

National Law University Meghalaya (NLU Meghalaya) has appointed Prof. (Dr.) Jyoti Mozika as its new Vice-Chancellor. Prof. Mozika, who currently serves as the Head of the Department of Law at North-Eastern Hill University (NEHU), will take charge of the position in August 2026.
The post of Vice-Chancellor at NLU Meghalaya was vacant since February 2026 following the retirement of the university’s founding Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Indrajit Dube. During this period, founding Registrar Kerpa Meida Lyngdoh Nongbri was serving as the Vice-Chancellor in-charge.

Prof. Mozika has over 27 years of teaching experience in the field of law. She completed her B.A. LL.B. and LL.M. as a gold medallist and holds a PhD in Law from the University of North Bengal.
She has served four terms as the Head of the Department of Law at NEHU and has held various academic and administrative positions at universities and professional bodies across India.
Prof. Mozika’s appointment follows her academic and administrative experience in legal education. She is married to Senior Advocate Nitesh Mozika, who serves as Deputy Solicitor General of India for the Meghalaya High Court.
