About the Job
Tata Trusts is hiring for the role of Legal Officer, Contracts & Advisory. This is an on-roll position based in Mumbai and reports to the Senior Manager, Legal. The role primarily involves handling contractual assignments such as drafting, reviewing, and negotiating agreements, along with compliance and advisory matters including data privacy, employment laws, labour code, and statutory compliance.

Eligibility
- Bachelor’s degree in law (LL.B.) from a reputed university in India
- 5 to 8 years of post-qualification work experience
- Preference for candidates who have worked in a well-recognised law firm
- Strong background in handling contractual assignments and compliance/advisory matters
- Strong understanding of relevant laws and regulations, including the Companies Act, 2013, data privacy laws, the DPDP Act, employment laws, CSR framework, and FCRA
- Demonstrated ability to independently review and interpret complex contracts, identify risks, and communicate actionable recommendations
Responsibilities
Contractual Assignments
- Independently draft, negotiate, and finalise agreements, including grant letters, service agreements, procurement agreements, EPC contracts/infrastructure project contracts, memoranda of understanding, work orders, purchase orders, and non-disclosure agreements
- Provide post-execution support, including advising on compliances and obligations, and preparing documents for amendments, breach notices, and termination notices
- Review and update templates of agreements, purchase orders, and related documents, and develop SOPs for contractual matters and processes
- Maintain trackers and repository of executed contracts
Legal Compliance and Advisory
- Implement compliance framework for data privacy laws and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023
- Advise on legal and regulatory matters and compliances, including labour and employment laws
- Implement and manage legal compliance tools for statutory compliance and advise on legal aspects of statutory compliance requirements
Dispute Matters
- Handle contentious and dispute-related matters, including drafting and reviewing applications, petitions, and other legal submissions
- Brief counsel and attend court proceedings
