The National Biodiversity Authority (NBA), established in 2003 in Chennai, is a statutory, autonomous body under the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. It implements the Biological Diversity Act, 2002 to regulate access to biological resources, promote their sustainable use, and ensure fair, equitable benefit-sharing with local communities.

About the Job

National Biodiversity Authority invites applications for the post of Consultant B (Legal) on a contractual basis in the CS III (Biodiversity) Division of the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change. The position is purely temporary.

Eligibility

• Master of Laws (LL.M.) from a recognized University approved by the Bar Council of India
• Must have practised as an Advocate for more than 5 years and up to 10 years
• Working knowledge of MS Office
• At least 3 years of experience practising before District Courts/High Courts or other Courts/Tribunals in Environment and Biodiversity Laws
• Knowledge and understanding of legal issues under the Biological Diversity (Amendment) Act, 2023
• Good analytical and legal research capabilities
• Good written and spoken knowledge of English and Hindi

Salary

The remuneration of the Consultant will be Rs. 80,000/- P.M. (Consolidated) and subject to TDS at the rates applicable.
