Eligibility
- Qualified LLB or a master’s in law.
- 2-3 years of experience within a law firm or corporate legal department, with primary emphasis on laws applying to non-profits.
- Seasoned communication skills—able to influence at a variety of levels and across functions in a complex matrix organisation.
- High standards of integrity, ethics, and professionalism
- Understanding of and commitment to the underlying environmental, sustainability, and substantive strategic areas of strategic significance to WRI India
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills; excellent analytical abilities and legal research skills; proficiency in word processing and internet research; ability to work in a diverse environment.
Responsibilities
- First-Level Review of Legal Documents:
- Independently reviews of basic legal documents, including MoUs, NDAs, LOEs, and contracts, to ensure compliance with internal policies and legal requirements.
- Start reviewing grant agreements and align with internal activities to ensure grant alignment and funder requirements.
- Identify and escalate any discrepancies, inconsistencies, or potential legal risks within the team.
- Negotiation & Stakeholder Coordination
- Handle multi‑level internal and external negotiations, ensuring organisational risk mitigation while aligning with project needs.
- Collaborate with program teams, operations, partners, vendors, funders, and legal counsel to finalise documents.
- Escalate critical issues appropriately while demonstrating independent judgment during decision‑making.
- Maintain professionalism and clarity during conflict resolution and high‑pressure discussions.
- Maintenance of Internal Trackers:
- Independently maintain accurate and up-to-date trackers for Grants, MoUs, and NDAs, ensuring that all relevant information is recorded and easily accessible.
- Legal Research Support:
- Assist the Legal team with legal research tasks, including gathering relevant statutes, regulations, and case law to support ongoing projects and initiatives.
- Synthesise and summarise legal research findings into clear and concise reports or memos for internal use.
- Legal Query Assistance:
- Provide timely assistance and support to internal stakeholders on legal matters, including responding to inquiries and clarifying legal requirements as needed.
- Collaborate closely with the Legal team to address complex or specialised legal queries, seeking guidance and input as required.
- Ad Hoc Legal Support:
- Assist with any other legal requirements or projects that may arise, including but not limited to drafting legal documents, preparing presentations, and coordinating meetings or events.

1 Year (Extendable based on performance and project requirements)
Salary
INR 9,50,000 to 1,250,000
