About the Job
The role at Caterpillar Inc. involves providing comprehensive legal support for its financial services operations in India, particularly within the NBFC framework. The position focuses on handling transactions, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, and litigation matters. It requires advising business teams and senior management on complex legal issues, assessing legal risks, and supporting strategic decision-making.
The role also involves drafting and reviewing legal documents, ensuring alignment of legal strategies with business objectives, and contributing to team leadership and development.
Eligibility
- A 4-year college or university degree with law background. The Master of Laws (LL.M.) is preferred.
- Legal Professional Certificate and considerable experience in the law practice in India.
- 8+ years working experience, and a minimum of 3-5 years of industry experience with Non‑Banking Financial Company (NBFC) in India or related role preferred.
- Rich experience in transactions, legal agreements, litigation, compliance and regulatory, especially in financial industry.
- A demonstrated record of interpreting and communicating the substance of complex law issues and the ability to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
- Experience in a leadership role and demonstrate appropriate leadership attributes.
- Proficiency English language skills in speaking and writing, especially good legal writing skills.
Responsibilities
- Lead the legal support regarding the transactions, regulatory compliance, corporate governance, litigations and etc. for Cat Financials’ core business in India.
- Research complex legal issues and review and draft complex legal documents.
- Ensure the implementation of legal strategies and goals in line with business objectives in India.
- Advise senior management/business leaders at all levels and provide clear recommendations on legal matters.
- Be accountable to assess legal risk; and identify and contribute to resolution of legal issues with a broadband of risk exposure.
- Be responsible for team engagement and development.
Location
Bangalore, India – Required in the office 5 days a week.
