About Law Commission of India

The Law Commission of India is an executive body established by an order of the Government of India. The commission’s function is to research and advise the government on legal reform, and is composed of legal experts, and headed by a retired judge. The commission is established for a fixed tenure and works as an advisory body to the Ministry of Law and Justice.

About the Legal Internship Opportunity

The Law Commission of India is inviting applications from LLB/LLM/Research students for assisting the commission in its legal/research/law reform projects. The law commission holds three internship programmes – summer internship (May-June), winter internship (November-December) and mid-term internship programmes.

Eligibility

• the internship is available only for LLB/LLM/Research students.
• the student pursuing a three year law degree or a five year law degree should be in the second, third, fourth and fifth year.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Interns would be required to help the commission in their legal research/law reform projects.
• Interns would be required to present a research paper at the end of their internship on a selected topic.

Dates

• Winter internship deadline – October 1
• Mid-term internship – Applications should reach 30 days in advance of the intended date of joining the internship.

Duration of Internship

The duration of the internship is of four weeks which may be extended for another two weeks at the intern’s request by the competent authority. 

Stipend

The law commission will pay no remuneration/expenses.
