About Chair on Consumer Research and Policy
The Chair on Consumer Research and Policy (CCRP) was established at NUSRL, Ranchi in October 2024 by the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution Department of Consumer Affairs, Government of India, New Delhi, to promote research, teaching and training in Consumer law. The Chair acts as a “Think Tank” for the research and policy related issues on consumer law and also develop consumer affairs as a distinct subject of study both at Under Graduate & Post Graduate levels.
The Chair aims at protecting the rights and interests of the consumers through consumer awareness, timely and effective grievance redressal, involvement of various stakeholders, etc. It aims at empowering consumers through awareness programmes to enhance consumer protection and safety against unfair trade practices, effective redressal mechanisms, etc. The chair promotes seminars, workshops, and training programs, empirical research, etc., on present consumer law issues.
About the Internship
Chair on Consumer Research and Policy (CCRP), established under the aegis of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Government of India at the National University of Study and Research in Law (NUSRL), Ranchi is inviting applications for internships.
To familiarise interested and willing students of law and non-law backgrounds with the provisions of Consumer Protection Laws and acquaint them with the need and importance of Consumer Protection and Consumer Welfare.
Eligibility
- Internship is open to students from recognized law and other institutions and universities.
- Students pursuing the following courses can apply:
- a. Second and third year of the Bachelor’s degree in Law (3-year course after graduation) or
- b. Second year onwards in the case of the integrated five-year course in Law.
- c. LLM students.
- d. Students from other academic backgrounds apart from law (i.e., students from NIT and the National Institute of Design).

Only 5 students will be given the slot every month (offline and online combined).
Duration
Internship is normally for a period of a minimum of 30 working days. There will be a short induction program on the provision of Consumer Laws on the first day of the internship.
Internship is full-time, interns must follow office hours (9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.).
Timings for virtual interns will be flexible.
Roles and Responsibilities
- The Chair will guide interns during the internship. Interns are required to:
- a. Present a paper/report on an assigned topic preliminarily within a week after joining the internship and finally towards the end of the internship (4 days before the last date).
- b. Submit a final report of the work carried out and make a presentation on it.
- The internship will be considered completed only on submission of four original works in the area of consumer law.
- Absence may lead to extension.
- Internships may be discontinued for poor performance or unauthorized absence.
- Interns must maintain dignity, decorum, and discipline.
- Interns shall not disclose confidential information without written consent.
- Certificates will be issued only upon successful completion.
Stipend
No stipend or honorarium will be provided.
